In Detail Anastasia Moonchild Glow Kit Review, Swatches and My Experience

Outer packaging

  • This glow kit comes in a carboard packaging just like all the other glow kits do. It is rectangular in shape unlike the previous editions.
  • The outer leaf is again made of cardboard and is in a blue to white Ombre shade with a holographic sheen to it. (*drool*)
  • The front side of the outer leaf has the name “Moon child glow kit” written in silver metallic alphabets and the name of the brand written in black alphabets with their custom “Anastasia Beverly Hills” font.
  • The back side of the leaf has the Anastasia Beverly hills logo, the palette name, a one line description, the weight, ingredients used in each shade and the company information with a bar code. The actual palette’s packaging is the same as that of the outer leaf with the same content in it. (both)
  • The palette come with a magnetic flip that helps keep the palette closed.

Inner contents

  • Unlike the other kits this palette has six square pans, with the shade name written in black below each pan.
  • The quantity of each pan is 4.2 g. The pan size is big enough for a highlighting fan brush to pick up the product.
  • Moving on to the colors, Like I mentioned earlier this palette has super unusual colors, the first of its kind (at least from what I have seen till then).

Anastasia Moonchild Glow Kit Individual Highlighter Shades Description

Anastasia Moonchild Glow Kit Review, Swatches MBF

Blue Ice – Diamond white with an icy blue reflect
Star – A moonstone fusion of mint, platinum and silver reflect
Purple Horseshoe – A glittering lavender with an arctic blue reflect
Pink Heart – Pearl white with a pink opal reflect
Lucky Clover – A shamrock-infused gold with canary yellow diamond reflect
Blue Moon – Frozen blue with a silver reflect

The shades Blue ice, purple horseshoe and pink heart have micro glitter added to them, so this gives a glittery metallic finish on application.

Whereas, star, lucky clover and blue moon just have a nice metallic glow, which I feel is a good thing. These three shades give a ‘glow from within feel.

My experience

Personally, I love this palette and it is totally worth the hype. The pigmentation is really good and these powders blend very well. There is no kick off from the pans. But the glitters do seem to go all over the palette with regular use. The shade blue ice and purple horseshoe look pretty much the same on the skin (on mine they do and I’m quite fair).

Well, the shades in this palette look like they won’t suit all skin tones but then again, why not?
“If a girl has got to glow then a girl has got to glow and there’s no stopping her!”. The palette is priced at 40 $ like all the other glow kits. There is no denying that the palette is on the pricey end but you get six pans. So, if that makes you feel better, so be it. However, I honestly feel that the packaging could be a bit better for its price.

  1. High pigmentation
  2. Easily blend able
  3. Can be layered for more pigmentation without looking cakey (but don’t go too crazy with it, unless you want to look like a tin can)
  4. Super glowy
  5. Staying power is good

Cons of Anastasia Moonchild Glow Kit

  1. Cardboard packaging
  2. It is not water proof
  3. Found two shades very similar to each other
  4. No mirror
  5. To be used within 12 months from day of opening (very short time)

MBF advices

  1. Can be used as an eyeshadow.
  2. Use it with a wet brush for extreme pigmentation.
  3. Use it over a lipstick to get a holographic metallic glow.
  4. Combine two shades to get a different color glow
  5. At times, I layer this over a silver based liquid highlighter to get an intense dramatic glow.
