The Body Shop Seaweed Deep Cleansing Gel Face Wash Review: Can you imagine a life without face-washes? A horrifying thought right? Because a face-wash is something that each one of us use. I have this queer habit of trying different face washes. Yes of course I have a favourite, but no harm in checking what the others are like, right? So the latest face-wash that I’ve gotten my hands on is The Body Shop Deep Cleansing Face Wash and that is what I’ll be reviewing here.

About The Body Shop Seaweed Deep Cleansing Face Wash

The Body Shop Seaweed Deep Cleansing Face-Wash contains bladder wrack seaweed which is extracted from the south-west coast of Ireland. It is an oil-free and soap-free gel face-wash that cleanses the skin and rebalances the moisture levels of the face and tries to give the skin a matte feel.

How it Works

  • Seaweed is renowned for its conditioning and hydrating benefits, while its non-oily nature makes it particularly suitable for normal to oily skin. Leaves the skin feeling fresh, clean, soft and supple with a shine-free, matte complexion.
  • Seaweed is packed with vitamins and minerals that are also great for your skin, and because it moisturizes and conditions with zero oils, it is ideal for use on normal to shiny skin. Grown without any chemicals or fertilizers, The Body Shop’s seaweed is an entirely natural and sustainable ingredient that re-grows fully within two years.

How to Use The Body Shop Seaweed Deep Cleansing Gel Face Wash

1st Step: Wet your face and palm properly with water.

In Detail The Body Shop Seaweed Deep Cleansing Gel Face Wash Review, Swatches and My Experience

The face wash comes in a bluish transparent 125 ml tube with a black cap. The packaging is pleasing to the eye and most importantly, is travel friendly. It will fit into a handbag or purse, quite easily. It has a green dot stuck on the back-side of the tube indicating that it is a vegan product. That means this has neither been tested on animals nor have they taken ingredients from animals.

The gel is transparent and not too thick. It is runny, like water. You need to be careful when you pour it. Because of the water like consistency you might pour more than needed. Also, while travelling it’s best to wrap this in a plastic Ziploc bag to avoid spilling. It has a mild aquatic fragrance.

How I Use It

First, I take small amount of water and wet my face. Then, I pour a small drop of the gel on my palm and apply it all over my face gently, making upward circular motions with my hands. I just avoid the eye area and the lips. Then, I gently splash water on the face and then use my hands to rinse the gel off. Finally I towel dry my face softly to remove the water droplets. I use this face-wash once in the morning before leaving for college/work and once in the evening after I return home.

Effects

After I use this face wash my face experiences this cooling effect which makes my skin feel fresh and energised. Also my face feels light because it removes all the oil and gunk from the pores. The face-wash does not over-dry my skin. Even though I usually moisturise my face after washing it, I can also go without moisturising it with this face wash. The mild fragrance of the face wash adds to freshness.

But as far as acne is concerned, this face wash doesn’t contribute much to reduce them. There is no guarantee that your pimples will disappear after using this. So during my pimple breakouts, I switch to other, effective acne face washes. However otherwise on usual days, this is my go to face-wash at this point.
