Clinique Superbalanced Makeup Foundation Review, Swatches, Demo: Hello out there! I’m Lucia and here is my next review. This time I’d like to talk about the foundation I kept for more than one year and before I throw it away I need to share my thoughts about this one. I bought it long time ago. At the time I needed a soft dermatologic-tested foundation which wouldn’t make my skin go bad (as it was pretty bad back then). My skin is very dry and sometimes tend to peel or have red spots. I wanted something that would do no more damage on my skin.

I went to Sephora and asked the advisor her opinion. She proposed me this foundation, telling me that Clinique offers the softest products for all type of skin. She also chose the lightest shade for me (Pale girls problems) so I was pretty convinced, I bought the one she picked and I got back home.

How to Use Clinique Superbalanced Makeup Foundation

Suggested Usage:

  1. Apply after using 3-Step Skin Care.
  2. Start in center of face and blend outward with Foundation Brush or fingertips. Blend evenly for smooth, natural-looking coverage. For a seamless look, dampen fingertips and blend edges, especially along jaw line.

Personally, I had no time to use N-step skin care with my studies, so I put some cream on and that was it. I liked applying it with a sponge.

In Detail Clinique Superbalanced Makeup Foundation Review, Swatches, Demo and my Experience

Unfortunately, I don’t have the package anymore, but it was a cute green/rose pale package with flowers all over.

The make up itself comes in a small bottle made of opaque matte glass with a metallic cap. It’s pretty heavy for such a small foundation (30 mL) and it seems to be sturdy as well. I truly loved the bottle, but then I opened it. There is no pump dispenser or nozzle, nothing at all to apply or at least get the makeup out of the bottle. Really disappointing for a foundation which costs pretty much. Well, I learnt to pour it on the back of my hand at first and then apply it with a brush or a sponge.

Like I said above, I wanted something to make my skin feel better about wearing make up.

It did make my skin get better. It really is very soft and no-red-spots-friendly. I really felt my skin was breathing underneath.

However it didn’t keep all of the promises. The coverage is mediocre, it was okay for my cheeks or front as my skin was pure and smooth, but as soon as I was tired, I had bangs under my eyes or you could see my veins really often under my eyes, which is not that cool having blue eye circles, or those mornings when by misfortune I found a pimple, it was useless.

In addition to that, the poor Sephora advisor really picked up the lightest shade (01), but it was still dark enough for me to use it properly all over my face. So I needed to cover my dark circles (or blue would be more appropriate) with a corrector way lighter and then complete with the foundation.

It was pretty annoying without any applicator and it took me more time every morning than I thought. But it was really smooth and soft, when I got comfortable, it was a nice foundation, very natural. Although it doesn’t last all day long. My dry skin absorbed it all in less than 2 hours, in the evening when I tried to remove it, my cotton remover was almost all white.

I noticed that 3 or 4 months ago my makeup was getting more and more orange, so it became rare for me to use it. At this point, it totally helped my skin getting healthier with no make up, haha. Now it’s finally empty so I could get a new one without any guilt.

Despite all of these, I don’t regret buying it. It was some kind of frontier between my teen age and now, it stopped me from using cheap and unhealthy foundations, it taught me to like my own skin and not to try that hard covering it. More you try, worse it gets. But I definitely wouldn’t buy it again.

I used it the very last time to show you guys. I used a brush from Yves Rocher to apply it on my face and a small sponge from Sephora to blend it all out. It’s not bad, but it’s far from what I would expect from a Clinique makeup.

MBF Advises

If you have a very sensitive skin as well as you don’t like wearing a lot of make up. Also, if you prefer your natural look and your skin is not porcelain light, this foundation is totally for you. Oh, and if you like taking your time as you’ll need some warrior skills to take that sneaky little makeup out of the bottle, way to go as well 😉 Otherwise, check out my next reviews to find out which one has « won » for me and replaced the Clinique one now.

    • True Sangeeta. I feel its unhygienic as well. A lot of the foundation available in Indian market comes in such bottle.
Very well written Lucia. Looks flawless.
