Hello there beautiful! Hope you’re having a fabulous day 🙂 Today let’s talk lips! Now the brand Jeffree Star Cosmetics is blowing up all over social media, because of Jeffree himself but also because of his crazy products. You’ll find some very unique colors in his velour matte liquid lipstick line. There is literally something for everyone! It’s the quirkiness and the Barbie pink packaging, which makes this brand so unique. I just had to try it out. These liquid lipsticks themselves were quite hyped up themselves, said to be one of the best in the market. And if it’s the best, chances are, I will have to try it out for myself! Let’s see Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick Masochist Review, Swatches and how it played out for me.

In Detail Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick Masochist Review, Swatches and My Experience
I finally got my hands on this baby about 6 months ago and I was super excited to try it out. The packaging is definitely unique and very ‘Jeffree’. I like how it doesn’t look cheap or feel cheap. I prefer glass/acrylic bottles rather than plastic. They just look classier.
Now my initial reaction to it was omg this is sucking the life out of my lips! Not only that, but it was bleeding outside my lip line after barely any time had passed. I was so upset because I thought I had wasted my money for no good reason. So then I went online and saw some reviews to check whether it was a legit problem or was it just me? That’s when I figured out, you need to shake the bottle because the product inside separates. Because the journey from the US to here isn’t exactly short, the product could’ve settled.
So the next time I applied it, I shook it well and it worked! The formula felt so good on my lips and the color looked amazing too. It’s a medium vibrant pink raspberry shade that would look good on every skin tone. Initially, I had trouble deciding which color to get but finally am glad I chose this. Although I’m generally not a fan of pink but this one is an exception!
However, as time passed, the formula got thicker in the bottle. The last time I tried it, it felt significantly drier and thicker on my lips which I didn’t like. I feel like this is a liquid lipstick you need to keep in constant use so it’s best to buy a color you would use often.
Application wise, the main issue I faced was with the wand. The tip is so flimsy, its best to either use a lip brush or you have to be super careful. Therefore, if you have small lips, this will be a nightmare to use! I really wish they would fix that. Also the chemical smell! Which I think they have in the recent releases.
Here is the wear test I did to show how it performed. The lasting power was impressive!
After 7-8 hours
(inclusive of eating and drinking)
Most of the product is still on, there is just some feathering on the bottom lip as well as some fading on the inner part of the mouth. But after that much time, only this much damage is commendable.
Here is the smudge test
Under water pressure
The color didn’t budge or bleed
Slight transfer and fading of color, mostly intact

Pros of Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick
- Transparent bottle – Can see the true colour of the product
- Cute packaging
- Very pigmented – One swipe color
- Variety of colors available for various skin tones
- Long lasting
- Doesn’t bleed outside the lip line
Cons of Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick
- Smells like chemical
- Must shake bottle before use as formula separates in the bottle
- Drying on the lips as time goes by
- Formula dries in the bottle – It was a lot thinner when I got it. It’s gotten thicker which effects application. It wasn’t drying before but has become so now on my lips, and it remains tacky throughout the time I’m wearing it.
- Application wand isn’t firm enough for crisp application
- Store the tube, facing downward
- Always shake the tube for a good minute before each use
- Exfoliate your lips prior and moisturize well
- Liquid lipsticks can also be used as eyeliners with an eye liner brush
4 / 5
Jeffree Star Cosmetics liquid lipsticks are one of the better ones out in the market. Hence, I’m glad I got to try it. Therefore, I might even buy more in the future if any color appeals to be and is unique.
