La Tentation de Nina Perfume by Nina Ricci Review

La Tentation de Nina is a new limited edition of the original Nina fragrance from 2006. It is born out of collaboration between perfumer Olivier Cresp and Vincent Lemains, the master chef of the famous Parisian patisserie Ladurée. The two men had worked for a long time to develop a fragrance that makes you want to eat it. Together with the fragrance, the new line of Ladurée macarons named Nina is also presented.

This edition represents a combination of the senses of taste and smell. However, it is announced as a more “mature” phase in the development of the former Nina flankers. In that regard, the fragrance is less sweet, though it is devoted to delicious macarons.

La Tentation de Nina is a fresh floral – fruity and gourmand fragrance. It smells like Nina macarons topped with raspberry jam, with lemon drops and rose flavour. The composition begins with citrusy notes of bergamot and goes into the heart of raspberry, almond, lemon and Bulgarian rose absolute, which are connected together in the macaron accord, softened by notes of Bourbon vanilla ,white musk and sandalwood at its base.

The bottle for this year’s limited edition follows the form of the classic apple, iconic to the Nina collection. La Tentation de Nina perfume bottle has a passionate red finish resembling the passion and strength of a new born love accented with golden finished cap and leaves.

The fragrance is available from January of 2014 as a limited edition.

My Take : La Tentation de Nina Perfume for Women by Nina Ricci Review

I got this baby in one of my subscription boxes. I am a total perfume addict, if I may take the credits, ladies and gentlemen 😀 I am a kind of person who likes to relate scents to moods, places, colours and people etc. A little bit of synesthetic you see 😛

Coming to the review, although I have only used the sample size of this baby, I was ready to review this because I got almost 6-7 uses out of it already. I have attached the picture of the actual packaging of the full sized version of it, which is absolutely gorgeous. This is one of those packagings which allures you. I would totally buy it for the packaging if I could 🙂

This is more of a spring scent to me. When I put it on, initially it is very sweet floral macaroon with some underlying clean freshness. Some raspberry and lemons lie in the periphery of the scent. When I initially got it, the concept of a macaroon fragrance made me really excited, but to be honest, I was expecting a little bit better. It gradually settles down and smells rather like a synthetic watermelon smell with some floral appeal to it, I honestly did not like this part. After the watermelon died down, all I could detect was a generic berry sugary scent. Though I was hoping for some musk and sandalwood, I could not really appreciate their presence, may be very faint in the background, but not really noticeable.

Coming to the staying power, I was very disappointed. At first I was really excited because honestly this was my first Nina Ricci scents and I had high hopes. Unfortunately, this perfume lasted only for a couple to three hours on me. I wore it to work and even to a mall trip one day but after an hour or two, I had to sniff my wrist to remind me that I am actually wearing a scent.

Overall, if you are into sweet floral and fruity scents, you might like this one. Such scents however are not my personal favourites. If I had to pick this one, I would pick it up for its cute packaging though, which is ultra adorable 🙂
