I remember two summers ago I wanted to splurge on some higher end lipsticks so I asked a friend of mine which are some of the best formulas that she’s used and Make Up Forever’s lipsticks were one of her recommendations, and I tried hers as well and I did like them at the time. So I thought ill add one of them to my list. It was really difficult to try and decide on a color but finally I got a bright pink as I was into super bright shades back then. How times change! Read on to find out if I was happy with my purchase or not…!

The ‘Rouge Artist’ intense is a lipstick saturated with pigments for an intense result. It will suit your everyday mood. Natural, the ‘Rouge Artist’ intense will last all day and leave your lips soft and moisturised. Hydrate and soften the lips using the moisturising lip balm, use aqua liner to draw their contours and make the lipstick last longer.

How to Use Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick

For defined lips:

• Line your lips using an Aqua Lip shade that matches your lipstick.
• Create depth by shading in the edges of the mouth to create definition and blend towards the center.
• Apply Lipstick starting from the center of the lips and stretching to the outer corners.
• Define the edge of the lip line with concealer.

For fuller-looking lips:

• For more fullness, extend the liner just outside of the natural lip line. Fill in.
• For added dimension, use a liner one to two shades darker than your desired lip color.
• Add your favorite gloss in the center of the top and bottom lips to create volume.

The lipstick retailed for between $20 – $25 in the US. Unfortunately the product is discontinued now but Make Up Forever has other options and a wide range of colors to choose from!

In Detail Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick 36 Review, Swatches and My Experience

Now because I bought this around two years ago, I have grown a lot as a person in terms of what I like and what I don’t. So I will try my best to remember how it was for me back then. Present day I’m really over lipsticks and I only want to use liquid lipsticks because they are more low maintenance. They don’t spread everywhere nor do I have to reapply all the time!

When I got this lipstick I remember the color being brighter than I expected but since I was a fan of bright lips, I didn’t mind as much. I did wear it a few times and then it was just pushed to the back of my closet. The formula wasn’t matte at all. It’s more of a satin and the coverage isn’t that great on the lips. It’s very comfortable and hydrating though!

Here’s a lip and hand swatch. Shade 36 is a bright purple based pink!

As a lipstick, this one wasn’t that terrible, but it wasn’t that great either! I think the brand themselves also realised this and have now come out with a new and improved range! It’s always good to see brands improving over time, becoming even greater. Even if it was still around, I don’t think I would recommend this lipstick to anyone as for the price tag, I don’t think it’s worth it and there are better options out there!
