Urban Decay Naked 2 Eyeshadow Palette Review, Swatches

4.6/5 - (8 votes)

Hey everyone! I’m Lucia from France and this is my very first review on MBF Blog. I decided to pick the gorgeous palette from Urban Decay, NAKED 2. This is one of the NAKED palettes from Urban Decay Cosmetics family that we’d all kill for 😉 . I didn’t purchase this one, because I got it for my birthday (yay!). I really wanted one, and now that I have it I’m happy to share with you my opinions and observations! Let’s get into Urban Decay Naked 2 Eyeshadow Palette Review, Swatches.

Claims for Urban Decay Naked 2 Eyeshadow Palette

You demanded “MORE NAKED!”—and Naked2 delivers. From luminous shades with shimmer and sparkle to the smoothest mattes imaginable, Naked2 is packed with 12 never-boring taupe-hued neutrals (including a gorgeous grayish brown, a glittery copper and our lewdest, blackest black). Expand your Naked range to create even more sultry neutral looks, smoky dramatic looks and everything in between.

The case has an art-school inspired look with a hinged lid—taupe metal with embossed chocolate brown artwork. It’s smooth, modern and cool to the touch—a real tactile experience.

Naked2 includes a professional-quality, cruelty-free double-ended shadow/blending brush AND an Eyeshadow Primer Potion sampler with resealable samples of all four formulas (Original, Sin, Eden and Anti-Aging). Each sample holds about a week’s worth of Primer!

How to Use Urban Decay Naked2 Palette Eyeshadows

This palette contains a double-ended brush with an eyeshadow smudger on one side, as well as a blending brush on the other. In fact with the mirror, the brush and your skills you can easily use only this palette and a little bit of mascara to do your everyday make up. I prefer using the bright colors at first, to avoid bad surprises like trying to get some bright eyeshadow and ending up having brown remains all over my eyes! It’s easier to go darker than brighter. Then I rub the brush on the inner part of my arm as the skin is softer, it cleans the brush up a little bit and then I apply another shade.

In Detail Urban Decay Naked 2 Eyeshadow Palette Review, Swatches and my Experience

Let’s start with appearance!
The Naked 2 palette has a very nice and solid package with a slightly metal texture. It’s not smooth, there’s a pattern printed on which is some kind of relief. Also it’s pleasant to touch. Once you open it, you can see the cardboard adapted perfectly to avoid your palette from moving in the package. The palette itself is pretty heavy (which might help you recognising the fake ones!), this time very smooth and cold.

Initially a little bit of strength is required to open it. I guess it’s good news to know your Naked 2 is properly closed all the time in case you’re travelling with it. Once opened you have a mirror in the upper part and 12 shades with a double-ended brush below. However, In my opinion the only negative point concerning its appearance are eyeshadow pans that don’t fit perfectly in the frames. The palette doesn’t keep the position you choose for the mirror, therefore that’s pretty sad. You’ll need to hold the mirror part so it doesn’t move while you apply your eyeshadows. Otherwise you might put something behind as a support.

Brush

The brush is really good quality, it blends everything up perfectly and both the sizes and the shapes are different which is really cool.

As I have a very pale skin, the palest shades are pretty invisible for me. Hence, I often use the Foxy shade as a powder under my eyes (yes, I’m that pale). I also love using Tease to define the crease of my eyes, it’s such a perfect matte color and it comes out so naturally!

Favourite Shades

My favorite shades at the moment are definitely Half Baked, really pigmented gold eyeshadow with a very slight bronze undertone, and Busted, which is such a nice brown and so easy to blend. Otherwise I don’t really use Pistol, it makes me look so grey and sad, it must be my skin color and my blue eyes.

Overall

In fact, I think the product does worth the price. I really love the brush as well as it’s very easy to clean and with all of the 34 brushes I own it’s my very best. The shades have exactly the same color on the eyelids as you could expect and they last all day long. On the other hand, they’re totally not waterproof, so no crying! I expected the bright ones to be a little more pigmented though. To make them appear more, I use a small sponge brush which allows to bring the pigment out nicely, but make sure you blend it all together with the Naked brush then!

My personal tip, when you have no eyebrow pencil or kit with you (or if you’re simply me and you leave your stuff home easily though you need it), you can use Snakebite or Busted with a tiny brush to do your eyebrows, it works very well and it looks awesome and naturally!

At the end of the day, Naked eyeshadows are easy to remove as well as your eyes don’t get red. Also, it’s totally not irritating.

Just before I finish my review, I’d like to point out that this palette is totally cruelty free, which is very important for me.

MBF Eye Makeup Tutorial using Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette

I decided to show you my everyday Naked 2 look. I used Bootycall, Half Baked, Snakebite and Busted. I like wearing matte pastel colors with this make up, I only used a thin eyeliner and no false lashes. Enjoy!
