In Detail Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Palette Review, Swatches and My Experience
The acrylic palette comes packed in a matte black cardboard carton with the name of the palette and quantity written in silver metallic fonts and the company name written in a copper gold metallic font.
- On the backside of the carton are the description, ingredients, a few extra details and an image of the colors present in the actual palette.
- On opening this carton, you will find the mixing plate and the palette.
- The palette has the top cover transparent so as to view the shades present.
- The palette made of sturdy matte black casing which gives it a classy and refined look.
Inside the palette is a thin plastic leaf with the shade numbers printed on them. The palette has a brush slot, where the brush is kept. The brush is dual ended with a spatula on one end and a brush on the other end with a small cylindrical casing. The lip palette has 18 colors out of which 5 are primary colors. The shades present, range from nudes, mauves, reds to berry tones.
The best part about owning this palette is that you are not limited to only 18 shades. You can create your own customised color by mixer 2 or more colors. On a general note, I’ve never been a fan of the brushes that come alongside palettes. Having said so, the brush in this palette is really good. The spatula is shaped well and is of good quality plastic and the bristles of the brush are soft and apply the product well. The mixing plate is sturdy as well. Overall, the brand has put in good effort on the packaging of product.
Now, moving on to the lip colors. They have a nice formula which easily glides on the lips. It has a creamy matte finish. The colors take some time to set enabling easy blending in case you want to adjust the color on your lips.
The lipstick stays on for a good 5 to 6 hours after which my lips started feeling a bit dry. Once they set they don’t bleed or smudge. They do transfer slightly. Layering too much of the product gives a very tacky finish. It creases and ends up looking like a total mess.
The color fades when you eat. When you eat something oily it fades in the center but almost all the lipsticks do that.
Now, I did notice patchiness in Primary 1 (white), Primary 4 (yellow) and Shade 7 (vibrant coral), that is in case you use them individually. Apart from that, all the other colors have amazing pigmentation and apply like a dream.

Is this palette a must have?
Honestly, no, when I got this palette I thought I wouldn’t be getting anymore lipsticks but I was wrong. This palette is best used if you are a professional Makeup artist. Then again, folks like us can use it too but I doubt that the palette will reach its full usage potential.
Do I use the palette very often?
Nope, when I got the palette I was super excited on the idea of having so many colors to play with but eventually the palette grew out of me. You can probably see from the pictures how much I’ve used it. I then just got lazy with the cleaning process of the brush and mixing palette and started looking for ‘shortcuts’ and splurged more on lipsticks of the colors I want.
However, I do reach out to this palette every once in a while.
Any other reason for not using it so often?
Yes, there is. When I use a color from this palette and require a touch up anytime in the day, I’d have to carry this palette and the mixing plate and it gets messier if I applied a customized color. I’d have to keep mixing till I get the perfect shade which I created before and in case that perfect shade doesn’t turn up right, I’d probably have to keep adding and mixing or just rub of the color from my lips. Retouch the foundation, go about with the lip liner and then with the lipstick. All this is just too much of a hasle for me
When do I use this palette with no doubts in my mind?
Well, I’d say the best time I made use of this palette was when I was on a long travel vacation. I didn’t have to take a number of lipsticks with me. This palette was more than enough. I was able to manage with its staying power and the palette saved up space in my travel bag (since I already had too many things to carry).
This palette retails for 48$ which comes close to the standard palette pricing of the brand. So, you are actually paying for 2.66$ for a lip color, which is kind of relieving. The NET WT. is 0.03 oz./0.8 g each
