In Detail Bath and Body Works Twilight Woods Golden Sugar Scrub Review and My Experience

The BBW Twilight Woods golden sugar scrub comes in their classic tube packaging. Bath and Body works is known for relaunching their ranges with changed packagings so what you have might look a little different but if the name’s same, its the same product. The packaging is simple yet functional with all the information printed on to it. However, I do have to say that when the scrub dries a bit or its placed in a chilly environment, it becomes pretty hard to squeeze it out of the tube.

When I squeeze it out of the tube, the scrub appears dull yellow in colour. It has big sugar chunks in it like the regular sugar “chini” we get from the market. So yes it is gritty in texture. To me this smells like it has strong musky-vanilla notes with some background of coconuts. Vanilla and musk are like the major notes which you can appreciate when you use it.

I have to honest, I am not a huge fan of the big sugar-y texture of this product. I do enjoy how it smells but I just wish the sugar particles were smaller may be a bit at least. Nevertheless it performs quite nice.

I apply this on my damp skin and try to be gentle while massaging it on. The sugar does feel gritty on the skin for like a minute and then it starts melting with the warmth of the skin. So by the time I am done massaging, it almost melts completely. Therefore, although the initial, actual texture is quite gritty, it is not very harsh on the skin.

After I wash it off, it leaves my skin feeling soft like a baby. Also, this is quite moisturising, so in summers, I can afford to skip my moisturiser when I am in a hurry. The smell lingers on for about 10 minutes and then fades away. You can always use the body lotion, mist and perfume from the same range to make the smell last super long.

Although the major chunk of the product is made of sucrose or sugar crystals, this product does mention “styrene copolymer” as an ingredient which is basically a form of plastic used in cosmetic industry. This particular form of microplastic is used for colour and viscosity. It is not exactly forming any part of scrub granules.

So overall I have to say I had a decent experience with this product. Initially I did get a little skeptical about using this but the sugar crystals melt away quickly and hence, they are not scratchy or harsh on the skin. I like how this performed. Left my skin clean, soft and moisturised – exactly the three qualities I usually look for in body scrubs.

PROs of Bath and Body Works Twilight Woods Golden Sugar Scrub

  1. I really like how this smells.
  2. Leaves my skin feeling very soft, smooth and moisturised.
  3. Provides a deep scrubbing action but isn’t too harsh on the skin. Make sure you’re gentle while massaging and let the sugar crystals work their magic.
  4. Has some really good natural oils in the ingredients list.
  5. Not tested on animals.

CONs of Bath and Body Works Twilight Woods Golden Sugar Scrub

  1. Contains microplastics.
  2. Smell isn’t long lasting.
  3. May not be the best option if you have sensitive skin.
  4. If you have oily skin, you might find this a little bit “over-moisturising” like my mom did. But I personally feel that nothing is too moisturising. It doesn’t feel greasy and oily and for my normal skin, it feels pretty comfortable.

MBF Advises

  1. Never apply this on dry skin. Make sure to wet the skin before applying this so that sugar granules can begin to melt as you work in on the skin.
  2. Bath and Body works has major discount deals specially around holidays so do check them out around that time for great deals. Even otherwise, throughout the year their website runs some or the other deals.
