BBW has some really exotic spicy smelling candles and such scents usually come around during specific holidays. For example this one was released last year during Halloween. I haven’t had very good experience with pumpkin like smelling candles from Bath and Body Works, and yet for some reason I wanted to really smell how this is.

I was specially interested in the particular scent because it has clove in it. Clove is one of the most commonly used spice in Indian homes and may be for that reason I was interested in it. Remember, BBW has only 3 stores in India currently in New Delhi, Noida and Mumbai. So people like me who live in different cities have to actually order BBW online and we do not have the privilege of actually smelling the products before purchasing.

In Detail Bath & Body Works Pumpkin Clove 3 Wick Candle Review and My Experience

First of all, this candle from the outside, totally takes you into the Halloween feels. I mean the deep orange autumn vibes is very impressive. This one has a black coloured lid. Other than that, you guys know this is a very standard BBW packaging. I’ve actually started burning my candles on a candle stand because I just feel its a tiny bit safer that way. Do you use a candle holder or a stand?

The candle wax itself is deep orange in colour. The colour is actually an added effect and BBW is known to present different coloured wax in same variant of candles. What I am trying to say is, BBW will retain the smell of this candle even next year if they decided to give some different colour to the wax. If you know BBW, you know they like to re-launch same scents in different packagings year after year.

What does Bath & Body Works Pumpkin Clove smell like?

The BBW Pumpkin clove has straight up predominant clove smell. The exotic earthy spiciness of clove is something that will hit your nose and you will be taken by surprise if you do not read the label or do not know what to expect. Once you make peace with the strong spicy smell, you will begin to notice the cinnamon making its way softly through the clove. Its hard to miss clove and cinnamon in this candle because both of them are very prominent. Of course clove being the more dominant among the two.

When I burn the candle, after about 15 minutes, when the smell begins to dissipate to an extent, I do notice the pumpkin. Now if you’ve read my previous blogs, you know I am not the biggest fan of pumpkin scents from BBW. But for some reason the pumpkin in this candle is not so bad. May be its because of its combination with clove or may be they’ve used some different pumpkin scent, this one smells rather pleasant. Let me take this opportunity to suggest something. If you do not appreciate pumpkin smells from BBW just like me, I recommend smelling this one in the store. This one if definitely pumpkin but a better version of pumpkin smell.

So overall, if I were to describe the smell of Bath and Body Works Pumpkin Clove in a nutshell, I’d say its basically a mixed spicy scent with clove sitting at the summit in a background of faintly baked pumpkin smell.

Coming to the throw and performance. Well one of the wicks of the candle was shorter than the rest (possible a manufacturing defect in this candle). This is actually happening a second time. Last time, my BBW fresh Balsam candle was basically devoid of one wick. Looking past that, I would say this candle performed pretty decently too.

The throw was above average. The clove was strong (yay! if you like spicy scents), but not completely overwhelming. It was able to fill my average sized room completely within like 20-25 minutes and later, my whole house smelled beautiful.

So overall, I’d say you buy this candle only if you’re into spicy scents. Because this is going to satisfy all your olfactory spicy cravings. Surprisingly (for me), the pumpkin too in it is quite okay (because in the past I’ve been disappointed with pumpkin candles from BBW).

1. Packaging is pretty appealing with a clear autumn/halloween feels.
2. Exotic earthy and rich clove notes are a standout and you will totally be mesmerised if you love spicy notes.
3. Throw and burn performance is decent.

CONs of Bath & Body Works Pumpkin Clove 3 Wick Candle

1. Expensive in India. In addition, Bath and Body Works does not have easy return policy here, like they do in USA and other countries.

1. Trim the candle wick before burning, this will ensure even burn and you would prevent soot splatter in the jar.
2. Invest in a candle burner. Once the level of the wax goes down, it becomes difficult and may be a little but risky to burn it with mere matches.
3. Clean the jar and use it to store your jewellery or brushes. ReUse it 🙂
