In Detail Bath & Body Works Sun-Kissed Coconut 3 Wick Candle Review and My Experience

The Bath and Body Works sunkissed coconut candle comes in an absolutely stunning yellow jar. Its bright, its summery, its beachy and everything you can imagine about a warm sunny day on a beach of Hawaii. Because this has some creamy floral sweetness to it, just imagine you’re walking past a flower shop near the beach.

Sun Kissed Coconut was basically launched around February 2021 along with a bunch of other tropical scented candles. I wanted to get the coconut sandalwood candle as well but its fragrance notes said it had jasmine as well. Jasmine is not one of my favourite scents and therefore I chose the sunkissed coconut instead.

Always remember that fragrances are something that everyone has a personal choice with. I may like some fragrance, you may not like it so much. Hence, it is important to at least have an idea about your fragrance preferences specially if you’re shopping online. In store, you can smell and purchase, online it is a game of risk more or less. This is specially true in case if you’re shopping online in India because here online retailer do not accept returns unless the item is broken or there is a physical damage. You cannot return something just because you don’t like it. So online reviews and such coverages gives an idea about things and hence, this is the reason I feel it is important to check out reviews and blogs by 3-4 people/blogs before making an online purchase.

Coming back to the bath and body works sun kissed candle, it is I feel one of their best tropical scented candles ever. I have been a bath and body works candle lover for ages and this is one of their best works yet. The cold throw of the candle itself is pretty amazing. To me it smells of creamy coconuts dipped in really fresh ylang ylang flowers.

If you’re not used to ylang ylang, let me give a short description. Ylang ylang flower trees are found specially in India and some neighbouring countries. This particular yellow coloured flower has a really indulgent rich flowery and a tiny bit of fruity smell. It is not at all on your face or powdery. I may actually use the word exotic because that would give you a feeling of what I am trying to express. A really entrancing and ambrosial flowery smell which isn’t too flowery. Like for example, I am not usually drawn to flowery scents, but this one I truly love.

Ylang ylang is most commonly used to make essential oils and it is believed that this is really effective for relaxation and it is shown to be useful for those who struggle with low moods. So it is considered a mood elevator and some also say that it has a little aphrodisiac properties. Well, I feel it smells excellent and makes me feel good.

Now after we have that not-so-short description of ylang ylang for my overseas audience, I will talk about the hot throw of the candle. The hot throw of this candle is a solid 10/10. I mean, I light it in my hall or living area and within 5-7 minutes, I can smell this even in my kitchen. The throw is even and it does not feel like its too much immediately around the candle so its evenly distributed. It smells really good like fresh creamy coconuts arising out of ylang ylang smokiness and some lingering white flowers.

I usually let the candle stay lit for like 2-3 hours at max. But even after 3-4 hours, I can smell the lingering aroma of beachy coconuts. This has actually made it to the short list of candles that even my husband loves.

Also, if you’re new to candles, please remember to trim the wicks a little bit before burning (not needed the first time), so that you get a clean burn without smoke. This candle has a nice clean burn and creates almost nil smoke (except for that 2 seconds of smoke which is seen when you blow it off). I do not prefer to suffocate the flame by putting the lid because I feel like it makes the lid dirty. Therefore I always blow off the flame and then put on the lid.

If you have tried this candle, please share your experience with it as well. Also tell me your favourite candles. If you have any questions, please go ahead and ask because it helps cover everything that I might have missed in my description.

PROs of Bath & Body Works Sun-Kissed Coconut 3 Wick Candle

  1. Gorgeous yellow packaging.
  2. Really indulgent smell.
  3. Good throw.
  4. Long lasting.
  5. Even fragrance throw

CONs of Bath & Body Works Sun-Kissed Coconut 3 Wick Candle

  1. Expensive in India.
  2. This gets out of stock really fast. (not sure if that counts as a con though!)

MBF Advises

  1. Always put on the lid of scented candles after using so that the essential oils in it do not lose the intensity.
  2. If you love indulging in scented candles, consider investing in a candle lighter, wick trimmer etc.
  3. Do not burn candles continuously for more than 3-4 hours. In fact you would probably not need to because after burning for 3-4 hours, the candle produces enough scent throw to last for further 4-5 hours.

MBF Rating

4.5/5
