Clinique Black Kohl Shaper for Eyes Review, Swatches: Hi Friends, How are you all doing? “Kajra ray Kajra ray mere kalay kalay naina….” you will often find me humming this song whenever I am applying kohl or eyeliner. Kajal instantly brightens up the dull sleepy eyes and you feel more awake with application of a Kajal. That is one thing, which never fails me after a lipstick.

Though I have quite mastered the colors that suit my different looks and apparels, my hunt for the perfect kohl is still half-complete. I have seen girls whose kohl’s remain intact any part of the day without any kind of smudging or dark circles at all.

Blessed are such girls I must say for more than the Kajal it is the level of oiliness around their eyes, which help keep the kohl in place.

Well, today I am going to review one of the Kajal’s from Clinique called Clinique Kohl shaper for eyes – Black Kohl (201) which my friend got for me from the US a couple of months ago.

In Detail Clinique Black Kohl Shaper for Eyes Review, Swatches and My Experience

My friend visited me recently after about a span of 5 years and she had got some great cosmetics from the US which I had asked her to bring. While perfumes topped the list, I asked her to get some good Kajals and lipsticks for me. She had got me 2 kajal pencils from Clinique Black Kohl 201 and Black coffee 204 and 1 MAC eye pencil. I will soon be sharing my experience with you about those as well.

Clinique Kohl shaper for eyes – Black Kohl 201 is black colored wooden pencil, which has a triangular hold. The pencil comes with a grey colored plastic cap, which keeps the tip clean and prevents it from drying.

Despite that I generally have a habit of slightly rubbing the tip on a clean tissue paper so that the top most layer gets removed of and my eyes only receive a clean content of the kohl. Also I do this when the tip is large else I always prefer sharpening the pencil to get a cleaner content.

However, I have noticed that there is a lot of product wastage that happens with wooden pencils as compared to the twist type of pencils.

The sharpener that has come along also has a nice cap and hence the sharpener remains concealed. The sharpener is quite sturdy, I make sure to clean the sharpener body, and the blades with a clean ear bud dipped in make-up remover after each use. That way the pencil body does not attract any kohl color on it which there by spreads on the fingers and face by mistake (experience speaks!).

The kohl is creamy textured and has a dark jet-black shade. It is quite easy to apply on the waterline or the lower lash line and there are no tags or pulls what so ever on the application.

However, since my eyes are moist the kohl hardly stays on my waterline and soon starts to fade. Easily after about half an hour, I notice only light traces of the kohl and the remains spread around my eyes turning them black.

When I tried applying on lower lash lines during dry winters it stayed on for about 3 hours easily and started fading and spreading there on. However in the present climate that’s hot and sweaty it spreads easily in about an hour itself.

I have normal skin type and experience this. My friend who got this for me has dry skin type and this pencil seem to have given decent results to her, which is about an hour more of what I have experienced.

Also, the kohl cannot be used as an eyeliner as it starts spreading and smudging immediately. The kohl traces can be easily removed using any wet wipe or using any make up remover easily.

I have not been using this Kajal for a long time now and opt for it only when I have to go out for an hour or so. However, I did not experience any kind of irritation or inconvenience whenever I used this pencil.

The performance of this pencil has been quite disappointing to me and I would not recommend this despite it being paraben and fragrance free. The kohl has a shelf life of two years and is quite expensive for the quantity and the quality offered by Clinique.
