ColourPop Hot To Trot Lippie To Go Kit Review, Swatches: Hey guys, so this kit is from Colourpop 2016 holiday collection. I am reviewing it now because it somehow got held up in customs and reached me only this week. I mean, it literally reached me after months. Still I am happy to get this because this kit is indeed quite amazing. It has 5 shades of ColourPop’s Lippie stix as well as 5 corresponding or matching lip liners. All this for $ 18.00 is almost a steal I would say. Almost all the shades included in this kit are from ColourPop’s permanent line so I thought why not review it. Let me know if you guys want me to do individual reviews on the shades as well. 🙂

In Detail ColourPop Hot To Trot Lippie To Go Kit Review, Swatches and My Experience
When I ordered the kit from colourpop’s website, I thought the packaging would be bigger. I mean, 6 lipsticks and 6 lip liners, I didn’t think they could accomodate all that in a little kit.
For anyone wondering, let me do a size and price comparison. Lippie Stix – Normally these are 1.00 g each for full sizes. This set has 0.20 g of each. This means the quantity of each shade of lippie stix here is one fifth of the full size. Lippie Pencil – Each full size lippie pencil is 1.00 g, however each lippie pencil in this kit is only 0.06 g. This is almost one by sixteenth time of the full size. Therefore the lippie pencils are much lesser in quantity as compared to the lippie stix.
Let’s do the price comparison now. One fifth of each lippie stix would cost $1.00 and one sixteenth of a lippie pencil would cost around $0.31. Going by this logic, the kit should have been $5 + $1.55 = $6.55 only! However, please consider the packaging as well. Both the sides of the pen i.e. lippie stix as well as the lippie pencil have a twist up and retractable mechanism. Also the fact that this should have definitely taken them some extra equipments to manufacture. Overall, I am not complaining because I am not someone who finishes off a lipstick ever. So its better to get such value kits than 10 full sized products.
The ColourPop Hot to Trot Set contains 10 lip products. Therefore, let us go through them one by one. We will cover the Lippie Stix first and then we will talk about the Lippie pencils.
ColourPop Hot To Trot Set – Lippie Stix
ColourPop Cami Lippie Stix – One of the most loved lippie stixs from CP. Its a gorgeous slightly cool tone mauve shade in colourpop’s signature matteX formula. In fact, this is super duper matte. The colour looks amazing on almost all skin tones and one of my personal favourites.
ColourPop Cookie Lippie Stix – This lippie stix is also a part of ColourPop’s Staycation Set that I reviewed on MBF a while ago. This is a light n*de shade that almost exactly matches my skin. Almost looks like concealer on my lips to be honest. This can be a good shade for ladies with very fair or pale complexions.
ColourPop Trust Me Lippie Stix – Basically ColourPop’s Trust me a jackpot red matte for red lipstick lovers. The colour is a straight up gorgeous bright red that livens up every complexion. This shade has to be one of the best red mattes anywhere in the market.
ColourPop LBB Lippie Stix – This was again a part of ColourPop’s Staycation Kit. This is a vivid rich plum wine shade just as colourpop describes it. This is in matte finish, but not as super matte as CP’s matteX formula.
ColourPop Chateau Lippie Stix – A super warm deep burgundy shade. This is a perfect lipstick for fall if you’re into vampy colours. I mean I honestly think this is amazing for ladies looking for a wearable deep burgundy in a matte finish.
ColourPop Hot To Trot Set – Lippie Pencils
ColourPop Bound Lippie Pencil – This is paired up with Cami. Its a lovely muted mauve like CP says. This particular shade is almost a necessity in any beauty lover’s collection. If you’ve used MAC Lip Liner in the shade Whirl, you know what I am talking about because Bound is an exact dupe of MAC’s Whirl Lip Liner.
ColourPop Skimpy Lippie Pencil – Much similar to cookie but a tone deeper this is a soft n*de with slight pinky undertones. Again this lip liner is an ideal one if you’re looking for a n*ude lip liner. Its an exact dupe of Kat Von D’s Agatha Lipstick.
ColourPop Bossy Lippie Pencil – Bossy is a stunning bright red. Straight up dupe for MAC Red lipstick for sure. CP also has a Lippie Stix names bossy which is obviously is a dupe for MAC Red as well. I adore this lip liner. It is my goto lip liner whenever I want to wear a statement red lipstick.
ColourPip LBB Lippie Pencil – LBB is exactly the same shade as the LBB Lippie stix. So I need go over the description again. But I would say, this lip liner is a dream come true if you’re someone who loves long wearing liners.
ColourPop Dukes Lippie Pencil – This shade is a great match to CP Chateau Lippie Stix but not 100% similar because I feel Dukes is a tone deeper and more matte than Chateau. But as a lip liner, it pairs perfectly with Chateau.
Staying Power, Wearability
On an average, the colourpop Lippie Stix stay on my lips for 6+ hours without fading or smudging. MatteX formula is basically the one which rules. The deeper shades do leave a stain behind but you can always remove those using a good quality makeup remover. Also note that I strongly advise prepping your lips properly before wearing any matte lipstick to get a flawless finish. These do not overdry the lips and feel very light. I adore the fact that these do not crack or accentuate any dry areas on the lips. Sure I guess I have nothing negative to say about these lippies because they are totally amazing.

2. Colourpop isn’t easily available outside of USA.
MBF Advises
1. Always prep your lips before wearing any matte lipstick.
2. Start by exfoliating your lips with a lip scrub and then moisturise it with your favourite lip balm. Make sure the lips are hydrated for a super gorgeous looking pout.
3. Be careful with the liners in the set. They are quite thin therefore, may break if you apply too much pressure.
4. Always try such small sets when you’re trying out a brand for the first time before investing a lot of money in the full sized products. Brands usually come out with such sets around holidays in the month of November and December so keep and eye and you might score awesome deals.
