Elizabeth Arden Sunflower Dream Petals EDT Perfume Review

Hello lovelies!! I am back with yet another scent from Elizabeth Arden. I always loved Sunflowers when a relative brought it as a gift for my mother from the US when it was launched in 1993. So Sunflowers Dream Petals sounded like a trip down memory lane and I was eager to try it on.

In Detail Elizabeth Arden Sunflower Dream Petals EDT Perfume Review and My Experience

Sunflowers Dream Petals is available in a glass flacon shaped like the original Sunflowers edition, while outer carton is coloured in white and orange – with sunflowers illustrations.

It is composed of fresh and luminous mandarin and green apples notes. The refreshing opening continues with a floral heart composed of gardenia and velvety roses, while a base features a fine trail of cedar and sensual musk.
The popular edition, characteristic and recognizable by name and illustrations of yellow sunflower on the outer packaging, Elizabeth Arden is certainly a refreshing summer scent. But sadly, it is not a patch on its predecessor from 19 years ago.

This is a very fresh rosy & musky scent. Great for every-day-use. Stays like a whisper around you, not loud or sharp or edgy at all.

The floral after the initial blast of synthetic notes and isopropyl alcohol dissipates is refreshing. A little powdery and it’s very, very musky and has a note of green apple which is kind of nice but is not very noticeable. Also, there is a scent of oranges which sticks out too. In fact, the orange note is my favourite note in this fragrance. The floral notes that are in the scent are rose and gardenia and they are all doing their best to eke out the season which is coming to an end. Not too feminine so could be used as a masculine scent too – but would probably work best as a young girl’s first perfume also. And that is because it is not robust and that is its biggest disadvantage. The second biggest disadvantage is also the fact that it does not last! I had to spray again after just about two hours – and that is bad news for an EDT.

How I Use it

Before applying it on my pulse points, I make sure to dab some vaseline and then spray the EDT on the dab of vaseline – I have noticed it makes the scent last longer.

Effects of Elizabeth Arden Sunflower Dream Petals EDT

I must admit that at first I loved the fresh rosy scent. But after a couple of hours, I really could not smell anything – not even that fresh powdery scent. The weak longevity was SUCH a huge disappointment 🙁 .

I love the original Sunflowers and definitely expected Dream Petals to enhance that magic. But this is just so ‘blah’! It is very light, ordinary, with no character of its own.

MBF Advises

Perhaps not the best scent when you are looking for making an impression. But may be cosiderable for teenagers who just want to put on a little light perfume. Scents are a matter of personal preferance though.

    • Actually don’t Supriya! Don’t go by the packaging and my pictures (hoping you like them?) – the perfume is not long-lasting at all! Go for the original Sunflowers instead!

    • At your own risk Neha 🙂 – this perfume did not last on my skin at all! But I do know of someone who uses it regularly as a day perfume…..perhaps it will react differently on your skin 🙂

Though for a little more money, there are far better and long-lasting fragrances in the market…
