In Detail Estée Lauder Pure Color Love Lipstick Shock & Awe 220 Review, Swatches and My Experience

Starting with the packaging, it comes in its standard blue – gold cardboard packaging which has all the necessary details written on it. When you open it, you see a very beautiful and unique gold lipstick tube. Honestly, looks very royal and luxurious to me. I am deeply in love with the packaging. Also the lid of the lipstick is tight so it opens and shuts with a click. Hence no need to worry about the product getting messed up in your bag or purse. Overall the packaging is very lightweight as well as travel friendly.

Shades

Coming on to the shades they have a huge range of shade selection. I believe they have about 30 shades in this range. The good thing that I see in this range is like you have all the color options to choose from it may be pink, red, n*des or so. Therefore, I am pretty sure everyone will find their kind of shade easily in this collection from Estée Lauder.

In depth review

Now coming on to the review, I will be reviewing the shade 220 from this range which is known as shock and awe. Isn’t the name pretty? The shade 220 shock and awe is a very beautiful bright pink shade. This is a shade that will flatter all Indian skin tones, it may be from fair, medium or beauties with deeper skin tones.

Although, I truly love the colour of the lipstick but there is nothing unique about the shade. I know you must be wondering that on one hand I say I love this shade, but at the same time I say that the shade is nothing unique. So let me explain. This shade is a very nice shade and my all time personal favourite. That’s the reason I fall in love every time and hence I bought it. Whenever I swatch such kind of shades I fall in love with the colour. But for this shade, there are so many dupes available in the Indian market. Hence it’s a quite common colour for me which can be bought at an very affordable price point from any drugstore brand.

Finish, Wearability

This lipstick gives a very comfortable semi matte finish on the lips. It is not a powder matte formula. This lipstick does transfer on everything and anything but it leaves a beautiful stain behind on the lips. The texture of this lipstick is very very soft and buttery. There is no tugging or pulling during application.

The pigmentation of this lipstick is great as well. One swipe and you get fully opaque coverage on the lips. Lastly coming on to the staying power, it stays in my lips for 3-4 hours and after that it leaves a beautiful stain behind. The stain further stays on for 1-2 hours.

Do I Recommend Estée Lauder Pure Color Love Lipstick Shock & Awe 220

It’s a nice lipstick and a gorgeous shade as well. But if you ask me whether I will be personally purchasing this shade or not, I will say no. Just because it’s expensive for me and this is a shade that you can find easily in maybelline, elf, revlon and other drugstore brands. Hence investing so much is not really necessary unless you’re looking for a luxury product.

MBF Advises

  1. Prime your lips with a balm before you apply lipstick.
  2. Use a lipliner and outline and fill in your lips with the similar shade or a nude shade lip pencil and then apply your lipstick.
  3. For increasing the staying power of lipstick as well as to make it look matte, follow this. Use a lip liner, follow up with your lipstick and then dab a tissue on top of your lips and apply some loose powder on the tissue. This will help your lipstick last longer as well as will make it look matte.
  4. To make it look glossier use a clear gloss or a similar shade lip gloss on top of it.
