In Detail Too Faced Brow Envy Brow Shaping & Defining Kit Review, Swatches My Experience

I bought mine from Mecca Maxima (the Australian stockers for Too Faced), and when I initially unboxed it, I noticed the stencils were missing from mine ☹ . One quick phone call and they Express-posted out stencils out to me, and I had them in my hand by the next afternoon, so massive props to Mecca! ☺ They have some top-notch customer service staff, and I like that they have free Express Post for orders AU$75.00 that I can take advantage of that and order my Too Faced things in AU$75.00 lots and get all my stuff by next day (even living outside of the major capital cities).

Packaging and Formula

This is so sleek and elegant, and I do still see feminine touches, but this is another palette from Too Faced that is more ‘pretty’ than ‘cute’. The gold edges are a lovely elegant touch that extends to the gold labels in the pans, and the included tools.

This is the perfect size for a travel product; just like it claims, this is a perfect portable brow bar in your pocket. I have taken this on many a holiday and never had to fret over fitting it in, or it getting damaged. I’ve taken cardboard palettes traveling with me in the past and they’ve always come home with soft corners, where they have been dinged by things I’ve packed them with, or I’ve had product on my hands, and touched the box, and have it come off on the palette.

Don’t worry about packing extra tools for this; the included ones are fantastic quality and work so well. Often, included tools are inferior to the ones you buy, and I usually don’t use included tools, or care if I buy products that do not include them. This can be a pain if I am buying something with the aim to travel with it, since I have to pack extra things, so I a genuinely happy when included tools actually work and work well.

This palette is paraben-free, but not vegan, which could be a downside if you shop with that on your list of things you’re looking for. Too Faced doesn’t test any of its products on animals, and they do have a lot of vegan-friendly products, however this is not one of them; it has beeswax in it.

Quality

The products swatch well, and I had no issues getting pigment and blending. I did find it unusual they included a cream highlight in a pressed-powder kit, and it worked well, but I have noticed there is a little fallout in the pan when you collect the pressed-powder in the angled brush, and if left in pan, could easily wind up messing up the highlighter and setting wax. What I’ve done and it seems to work well is turn the palette around so I have the mirror towards me, and blow the extra floating powder out of the pans and away from the top row of ‘wet’ products.

Well, it was very simple to use, and I honestly didn’t pay much mind to the How-To-Glamour Guide, outside of a quick cursory look to make sure I wasn’t royally getting it wrong.

How to use the Too Faced Brow Envy Brow Shaping & Defining Kit

The kit includes 3 stencils, to help you in filling in your brows; they have a nice variety in their shapes, so you’re likely to find one very close to your brows. I found that the Too Pretty stencil fitted my brows best. I wiped it off after I used to, to keep it clean and avoid it possibly staining with product, since they are quite dark.

Also, I used the angled brush to apply the products and it worked well; I did need to clean it off between shades with a damp cloth, to avoid transferring product to product. The included spooley brush worked well to blend everything out evenly and naturally once applied. Even though the tools are small, I didn’t have any troubles wielding them, and they didn’t feel cheap.

Mine wore for about 7.5-8 hours before it was starting to fade; if you wanted to have all-day brows, top with a setting spray. There are a lot on the market, and all pretty much on par with one another; I use L’Oréal Infallible Fixing Mist Makeup Finishing Spray (AU$22.00), but any good-quality Setting Spray will do.

Experiment with finding your ‘fit’; mine was 2/3 blonde (which is rather light brown), and 1/3 brunette. The Blonde pressed brow pomade worked wonderfully for my red-tinges in my hair, but I feel like it would work well for any pale haired person.

MBF Makeup Look

I applied it to only one brow so you can get a nice before and after look, and see how much a difference it makes (I did my left eyebrow).

1. For my look, I used the included ‘Too Pretty’ stencil and found my colour: 2/3 blonde, 1/3 brunette, and filled the stencil. I started with a bit of wax in my left-sided brow. I find that if I apply the wax first the powder has a good grip to apply to.

2. I didn’t tweeze my brows this time so I went straight to the next step, which was using the powder to emphasise the arch and tail.

3. I evened it all out with the included spooley brush.

4. I went under the brow with the highlight cream, emphasising the arch in the middle in particular, and blending out to lift the eye.

5. I finished with another coat of the wax, to lock the brow pomade in.
I applied a coat of lightly shimmery pigmented lip-gloss (L’Oréal Glam Shine Diamant ‘166 Quartz Carat’) .

Overall Verdict

This is a great solid eyebrow palette, and good for anyone looking to have a go at doing their eyebrows, and isn’t sure where to start. It gave me a gorgeous sculpted brow and with minimal fuss and effort.

I feel like this a must-have for a makeup bag; if you’re ever the kind of person who hates having to rationalize what they take with them, sick of having palettes getting damaged in transit, or find the larger eyebrow palettes are intimidating or too bulky, this could be for you. I hate the stress of trying to pick the right one, which has shades that match me.
If you’re in one of those boats, I would wholeheartedly recommend this to you.

Will I Buy Again?

Oh yes! I have reached for this so many times, I don’t think there will be a day I will reach for this, and I’ll see I’ve hit pan and think to myself that I don’t need it

MBF Advises

  1. Apply wax first to help powder grip if you want
  2. Experiment with combining the powders to find your perfect shade
  3. Highlight the arch of the brow with the highlight cream
  4. Lock it in for all-day wear with Setting Spray
  5. Wipe the stencils off after use to avoid staining, with a damp cloth
  6. Blow out the extra powder left over after use, to avoid muddying the pale/clear wet products

MBF Rating

4/5
