Too Faced Natural Matte Eyeshadow Palette Review, Swatches: I’m a matte-queen, and love my nudes, so when I heard that Too Faced Cosmetics was making a matte version of their ‘Natural Eyes’ Palette, I rushed out and bought it to add to my eyeshadow palette collection, since I felt like the Natural Eyes palette had shimmers very close to ones I already have from their other palettes. So without further ado, here is the Too Faced Natural Matte Eyeshadow Collection, and my thoughts, take-aways and recommendations.

In Detail Too Faced Natural Matte Eyeshadow Palette Review, Swatches and My Experience

So much matte! Lovely, lovely, lovely…. I have other eyeshadow palettes, but this is the only all-matte one I have. The colours look nice and versatile, and you can combine to create a wide variety of looks.

Some of them were a bit of a hassle to get the most out of, but the end result was pleasing and I enjoyed playing around with the palette.

I always love Too Faced How-To Glamour Guides because they’re handy for people who just want a quick look to do, and don’t have inspiration. The looks in the Natural Matte were pretty good; nothing too complicated for me, and they all looked great on.

How to use the Too Faced Natural Matte Eyeshadow Collection

• I found applying Sexpresso in small amounts helped with the blending, and slowly building it up.
• The thinner shades still work well, if you build them up, and use a Primer to help them out with a boost.
• For powdery shades, apply sparingly and build them up.
You can use the How-To-Glamor Guide that walks you through step-by-step, or you can wing it on your own and create look after look, and combination after combination! Since I did this look, I’ve gone on to try others of my own creation and experiment, and I’m yet to find a combination of colours in this palette that doesn’t look great with one another.

Formula, Staying Power

Some shades are very chalky and powdery (Heaven, Lace Teddy, Risqué), or thin (Nudie, Lace Teddy) while the darker ones were harder to blend (Sexpresso, Risqué), which could problematic.

I’ve found they last on average 7 hours on me, before they start to fade, but if you want all day wear, top with a quality Setting Spray. There are a variety of ones on offer from many different companies; I use L’Oréal Infallible Fixing Mist Makeup Finishing Spray (AU$22.00), but any good-quality Setting Spray will do.
The packaging is very pretty; less on the cute side and more on the feminine, with a pale pink palette with brown lace over it. I’m still not sure if the brown lace tickles my fancy or not, as I have usually gravitated more towards their ‘cute’ packaging.

Pros of Too Faced Natural Matte Eyeshadow Palette

  1. Pretty packaging
  2. Durable tin case
  3. Travel-friendly size
  4. All-matte shades
  5. All nudes
  6. Includes 3-looks guide

Cons of Too Faced Natural Matte Eyeshadow Palette

  1. No brush included
  2. In-pan powder fallout
  3. Some shades thin
  4. Some shades blend poorly

Overall Verdict

Some shades are thin, powdery and pesky to deal with, but this can be the case with mattes and if you’re willing to work at it, it can be a good palette.
Definitely wouldn’t have this as a first palette, and recommend it for a slightly more experienced makeup fan, who can get the best out of them.

Will I Buy Again?

Naturally…. It’s full of all the matte nudes you could want to do a look, and can work well on its own, or teamed up with another palette that has satins, shimmers, glitters, and colour.
I will say I’ll be looking to try other all-matte palettes and compare, though, and see if maybe there is a better one out there.

MBF Advises

  1. For travel, remember to pack brushes
  2. Wear with primer
  3. Apply darker shades in smaller amounts to blend well
  4. Build thinner shades
  5. Try if you’ve had a bit of experience with mattes
