Faces Lip Contour Plum Kiss Review Swatches: Hi everyone! Last month, I reviewed Faces Lip Contour lip pencil in the shade ‘Tangy Pop’. Continuing the series, I have a new shade today. This one’s named ‘Plump Kiss’ and was more of an experimental buy for me. I am not really a fan of vampy, bold shades and usually stick to pinks and n*des with the occasional red break. Musing over a lot, I finally decided to try a darker colour just to see how I look and guess what? It turned out a disaster (not in the form of the pencil but the colour)! Read on to know the details.

How to Use Faces Lip Contour Plum Kiss

1. Neutralize your lips by applying foundation, concealer or a lip primer.
2. If you have very dry lips, apply a balm first.
3. With the help of the pencil, draw an x-shape to mark your cupid’s bow.
4. Gradually, draw a line over the natural shape of your lips.
5. You can also fill your lips completely with this pencil.
6. Apply a matching lipstick on top.

In Detail Faces Lip Contour Plum Kiss Review Swatches and My Experience

Packaging: This one is a simple wooden pencil with a transparent plastic cap that fits really well. The pencil is colour coded, so it is easy to spot the exact shade if you have multiple. The shade name, expiry date and other details are mentioned on the pencil in silver prints.

Complexion: This colour will suit any complexion provided you wear vampy colours.

Texture: Although, it is crumbly and rough initially, but after the tip wears down a little, it is smooth and creamy and glides on pretty easily. There is no tugging or pulling on the lips. Mind you, this cannot be worn alone as it is too drying and feels uncomfortable even if you apply a lip balm.

Pigmentation & Colour: It is a dark, vampy colour that goes well with burgundy lipsticks. Pigmentation is decent as you get the colour on your lips in 2-3 swipes. Honestly speaking, I don’t like the colour. It makes my complexion dull. But it suits my mother so well, I was astonished. Thus, like I said before, if you are fan of purple-based dark lipsticks and don’t mind going bold, this colour will suit you fabulously.

Lasting power: I paired it with ‘Burgundy Break’ from the Lakme 9-5 matte range (you can see the swatches below) and it stayed on for 6 hours. I did not take any heavy meals in between, only some light snacks. Worn alone, it stays for 3-4 hours, depending on your food intake, but it is hardly possible to wear this without a lipstick.

No, I shall not repurchase this particular colour. You can get this if you like the shade, but it comes across differently when worn than on the pencil, so please test it out before buying.

1. Always prep your lips prior application.
2. Remember to keep a sharpener close by when travelling with these pencils.
3. Make sure that your lip pencils always have a sharp tip.
4. If you are new to lip pencils, be slow and do not go beyond your natural lip border.
5. Keep your mouth closed while drawing the borders. This prevents you from over-lining the corners of your lips.
