It means that I haven’t used the product on myself, but I used it on my husband and MIL. I was the one to apply it and been closely following its results and long term effects. My husband has premature gray hair because he has to deal with a ton of stress as a surgeon. Before, we used to ignore gray hair. However, of late we decided to colour his hair. My MIL liked how it worked, so she decided to try it as well. Let me give you an insight into this product and how it works as a hair colour.

The Garnier Color naturals hair color comes in a very simple packaging. The carton box contains the following:
1. Cream Hair Colourant
2. Developer Milk
3. A pair of gloves
4. Garnier post color care conditioner
5. An information leaflet
Although its enough, but I wish they provided a small applicator brush as well. Anyways, so the packaging is nice, nothing yay or nay about it.

How I Use it

So the information booklet says, mix equal amounts of cream hair colourant and developer milk. Generally I use a glass bowl for any sort of colours or dyes because it doesn’t get stained. I mix them both in equal amounts. I use medical gloves because I don’t feel comfortable with plastic gloves. But if you’re okay with plastic gloves, you can very well use them. As I mix them both, the colour turn slightly gray. Then I apply the hair colour on my husband’s or MIL’s hair. I make sure not to touch the scalp. I only apply hair colour on the lengths and ends, never on the scalp. Be very very careful while applying the colour near the roots of the hair because we do not want the chemicals in the hair color touching our scalp.

The product instructs to leave the hair colour for 30 minutes. So we usually let it stay for 30 minutes. After that, we wash hair with normal temperature water and then apply the creme conditioner. Please know that the quantity of the conditioner in the sachet is very less. So if you’re going to use the hair color on longer hair, you may go ahead and use any of your other favourite conditioners.

Effects

It colours the hair (obviously!). But let us mention the stuff that you really want to know. The colour it provides looks very natural, true to its name. It covers all the gray hair. I hate jet black colours because they look artificial. However this particular colour looks natural and hair like. The Garnier hair colour does not seem to dry out the hair or cause any additional hair fall.

How long does the colour stay?

The main question! So on my husband (who uses a shampoo every single day), this color stays for about 3 to 4 weeks. However it lasts longer on my MIL who washes her hair every alternate day or every 2nd day. Longest, it lasted on her for around 5 to 6 weeks. After which, one starts noticing that the colour is fading slightly, not super obvious still. Apart from that, the new hair growing from the roots start showing up in that much time. So, my MIL needs to color every 5 to 6 weeks.

Overall Verdict

Overall I’d say I like the garnier creme rich hair colour. Its very easy to use. Though I wish the results actually lasted for 8 weeks as they claim, I guess results may vary on different people depending on their hair washing frequency and type of water. It is a decent hair colour to get if you’re looking for one. For me the plus points are, it doesn’t irritate my husband’s sensitive scalp, nor does it cause any dryness.
