In Detail Herbal Essences Rosemary & Herbs Shampoo and Conditioner Review and My Experience

The herbal essences rosemary shampoo and conditioner come in big tall bottles. Both are 400 mL bottles, definitely not something you’d want to travel with. As of now, I don’t think HE has smaller bottles for their products even outside of India. Other that the size factor, their packaging is nothing to complain about. Very informative and pretty looking. The bottles are not too tough so one can easily squeeze out the product from the flip open tops.

The shampoo is clear, without any slightest colour to it. It has a gel-cream moderate consistency. It smells a little herbal, but nothing fancy to be honest. The conditioner is white in colour with a nice creamy consistency and smooth texture. It smells relatable to the shampoo but the smell is slightly more pronounced.

How I Use them

I take the shampoo in my palm and apply the required amount lathering it through my hair. Please note, I have a habit of oiling my hair before shampoo-ing. Hence, in general I use shampoo on oiled hair. However, for review I also use the shampoos on un-oiled hair so that I can tell you how it works the other way too.

On Oiled Hair – It lathers very well creating a rich foam. Even on oiled hair, I just need to use this once. I do not have to apply the shampoo again to take off the oil. It takes off the oil in one wash only. HE Rosemary shampoo makes my hair squeaky clean and and leaves no trace of dirt or build-up behind.

On Un-oiled hair – It lathers almost the same on un-oiled hair as well. Creating a rich foam, this removes all the impurities from my hair. However, I feel that on un-oiled hair, this may leave the hair feeling a little dry if you do not follow up with a conditioner.

After washing off the shampoo completely, I take a large coin sized amount of the HE rosemary conditioner and apply it to the lengths of my hair. I never apply any conditioner on my scalp or near my hair roots. After nicely spreading the conditioner through the lengths of my hair, I let it sit for around 5-7 minutes. After that, I wash it off with normal temperature water.

Effects

Without the conditioner– My hair feel super clean and bouncy. However, because my hair type is normal to dry, it feels kind of dry if I don’t use a conditioner.

With Conditioner – The conditioner makes my hair feel super soft and smooth. It feels like it nourishes my hair really well. My hair look as well as feel healthy. The good thing is, it nourishes the hair and hydrates it but at the same time never makes them feel heavy or weighed down. Hair looks naturally good.

So therefore, I have actually been loving this duo. The shampoo cleans effectively and the conditioner nourishes properly without weighing down my hair. What else do I need. It has not caused any increased hair fall which is amazing. In fact, I haven’t seen any bad effects from this shampoo and conditioner duo. My hair has been loving it and so I will definitely continue using it.

Overall Verdict

In this summer heat, its natural for scalp to get oily and attract dirt. Also, the products such as serums and sprays build up in the hair. This shampoo has been an amazing cleansing shampoo specially loving it during this season which I really need a thorough cleansing for my scalp and hair. It does so without giving me any hair-fall. In addition, the conditioner works great at providing just enough moisture that my hair look healthy and does not weigh it down. Therefore, for me this duo is a win win.

In fact, just last night I was suggesting my MIL to try out this shampoo and she did use it today. Her hair type is on the drier side. Even she said it works really well. Her hair feel soft and smooth and do not feel as dry as they otherwise would.

I would recommend this duo to all hair types. Dry hair barbies may use a more generous quantity of the conditioner while oily hair dolls may need to use less of it. But overall this is a winner combination and I suggest definitely give it a try.

Usually I try to avoid sulphated shampoos. This shampoo contains 2 forms of sulphates. Sodium Laureth Sulphate and Sodium Lauryl sulphate. But I notice that still, this shampoo isn’t as drying as other drugstore shampoos are. However, if you have very dry hair or are concerned with over-drying, you can use this as a clarifying shampoo. It really cleans my hair well without causing any hair fall.
