How to Fix a broken Blush or Eyeshadow DIY
Today I am going to show you guys how I fix my broken blush or eye shadow. We all drop things sometimes (I drop things pretty often, or may be all the time 😛 ) and if the shade is something we love, our hearts break into the same number of pieces as the product. Happened to me. I love this blush so much. The name is Revlon Powder Blush Wine with Everything. While I was travelling, I put in my duffle bag in a hurry. I had completely forgotten about the blush while I reached the airport because I was running late. Somehow the blush slipped at the bottom of the bag and during handling by the airline people, it must have been banged on a surface I guess. When I opened my bag, this was the condition 🙁
I decided to curb my desire of buying a new one as I am a good girl 😛 My mother actually told me how to do this. Now let me take you trough the process step by step and you lovely girls can fix your blush or eyeshadow when they break. We save money and more importantly our hearts 😀
You will Need
The broken Blush or Eyeshadow
Cotton
Surgical Spirit or a Hand rub
Some Q tips
Forceps or Scissors which are not very sharp
Some towel or tissues
If you are under 18, please seek your parents’ help for this. If you have children in your house, do it where they cannot reach.
Step 1
Take the broken blush or eyeshadow and break it into finer pieces with the help of Q tips. Try to make it as fine as possible. It might look nasty in the beginning but don’t worry, we will get out pretty baby back in shape.
Step 2
Take the surgical spirit or alcohol hand rub and soak the pigment. You need to have control and go very slowly. Pour it drop by drop. Once its nicely soaked, you can clean up a bit if you want, or we can do it later.
I prefer using surgical spirit over some alcohol hand rub because hand rubs often have certain other ingredients in it. I don’t want all that in my blush. Surgical spirit is pure and it completely gets evaporated leaving your blush nice and fixed. There are absolutely no remnants of spirit unlike some alcohol hand rub.
Step 3
Leave it to evaporate and dry overnight. Make sure it is kept in a safe place because it is spirit we are using.
Next morning when you wake up, use your cotton and forceps and clean the palette properly as much as possible. Smoothen out the surface using a brush, here I have used the same brush that came with the product.
Excuse the colour difference, the fixed blush was clicked in the morning so the actual colour of the blush can be seen here. The previous pictures were shot in different light, the reason for colour difference.
And we are done 🙂
You get to save your favourite eye shadow in 3 simple steps. Isn’t that neat!
I would love to know if you guys have a way to fix a broken eye shadow or blush. Do let me know in the comments 🙂
