In Detail Huda Beauty Rose Gold Textured Shadows Palette Review, Swatches and My Experience

Packaging and Colors

The Huda Beauty palette comes encased in a cardboard sleeve showcasing Huda Kattan’s eyes and a bit of rose gold detailing. When you swipe the sleeve, you have a black palette with a transparent lid, which showcases the colors that it has! Quite honestly, I am not very happy with the packaging. Because it feels quite flimsy! When you are paying so much for a palette, you would want it to be all things pretty and fancy. If you know the Z-palette, you will be able to relate to this one. In fact, in my opinion the Z-palette is a lot durable. It doesn’t come with a mirror or a brush like majority of eyeshadow palettes do.

The palette contains 18 gorgeous colors that have been chosen and created to suit every skin tone! The shadows are a mix of metallics, mattes and pearls, which are mostly warm-toned. I absolutely adore the versatility of this palette.

Individual Shade Description of Huda Beauty Rose Gold Textured Shadows Palette

Huda Beauty Rose Gold Textured Shadows Palette Review, Swatches All Shades Finish Metallic Pearl Matte

Metal Eyeshadows – Metallic Finish

Dubai: Beautiful golden brown shade with green undertones. It has a creamy texture with superb color pay off; however, it’s pretty difficult to blend it out. Lasts about seven hours on the eye lids.

Fling: A gorgeous metallic cranberry shade with copper undertones and full coverage. The eye shadow is pretty easy to work with and gives a nice faded edge unlike Dubai. Lasts eight hours!

24K: A glittery warm yellow toned gold. It is a pretty dry shade in my opinion and does tend to chalk up with a brush or your finger. The coverage in uneven and has huge fall-outs. The longevity is six hours and it does crease!

Rose Gold: The perfect medium dark reddish copper with lots of glitter! The texture is just like 24k, difficult to blend in with a very uneven/patchy appeal. Has fallouts and lasts less than six hours!

Trust Fund: A metallic copper shade with a chunky texture due to excessive sparkles in it. The more shadow you apply the wrinkled your eyes look! Doesn’t feel as dry as 24k and Rose Gold, not the best either! Lasts seven hours!

#Blessed: A nice bronze shade with a creamy consistency (like Dubai) and applies on the lids evenly! The edges of the shadow are a bit difficult to blend though! Stays put for more than seven hours and the fall out is minimal!

Chromatic Pressed Pearls Eyeshadows – Pearlised Finish

Angelic: Pretty pink with little shimmer, which is easy to work with and works even better with a primer beneath. Without a primer it lasts six hours on me!

Moondust: A champagne shade with a decent coverage that works better with a primer. Doesn’t do much apart from highlighting the inner corners of the eyes. Lasts for about six hours!

Matte Eyeshadows – Matte Finish

Bossy: A plumy matte with brown undertones and dry/powdery consistency! Good pigmentation and easy to blend out, stays put on the lid for seven hours!

Flamingo: A bright pink matte shade with cool undertones and a sheerer coverage. It is not buildable and isn’t very long lasting either, 4 hours maximum!

Shy: A stunning dusty rose that sheers out as you apply it and gives a very patchy appeal on the eye lid! Stays for about five hours.

BAE: A yellow toned pearl shade with a sheer pigmentation, ideal for highlighting the brow bone. The dry consistency doesn’t allow even application, and the color is too sheer, lasts about five hours.

Black truffle: The perfect black shade that is great to create Smokey eyes! Feels really soft when you touch it, and can be quite a pain to work with, but has superb pigmentation and lasts about six hours!

Suede: A nice brown that works better with a primer. It works well without a primer too. Lasts six hours without a primer and eight with it!

Coco: As the name suggests a pretty chocolate brown shade that looks gorgeous when used on the lid. However, it has a very chalky appeal and lasts five hours!

Maneater: A deep red matte with a grainy texture and excessive fallout! It was difficult to work with and lasts four hours!

Henna: A matte Reddish brown shade with a dry consistency however, is quite easy to blend out! One of the nicer matte shades in the palette!

Sandalwood: A yellow toned brown with a good opacity and a non-drying or grainy texture that lasts around seven hours.

Formula, Pigmentation and Texture

I have been using this palette a lot ever since I got it, especially for night looks! The metallic shadows in the palette are a mix of some of the most gorgeous colors. I love how they are super dense. However, the texture of each one differs. Some of them are really creamy while some are super dry. The drier ones tend to chunk on the eyes, and make your eyes look tired, uneven and wrinkled. Also, you will experience a bit of fall-outs and creasing with these eye shadows. The wear time of these varies from 6-8 hours and the pigmentation is bang-on!

The matte eye shadows in the palette, I find them easy to work with. When you swatch them, they feel so velvety soft, also they applied on the lids a lot better than I expected them to. They show up beautifully on the lids. However they are not as long lasting. Five hours is the longest they have lasted! The pearl ones are okay-ish in texture, not as pigmented and for me; they are not really my colors! I haven’t used them that much, and I do not find myself using them in the future either. However, I feel they work great for highlighting the brow bone area and the inner corners.

Overall Verdict

The Huda Beauty Rose Gold Edition Textured Shadows palette is a decent palette that offers a variety of colors with different finishes. It does have its set of pros and cons, that the company really needs to improve on. I am not saying it’s the worst palette out there, but it’s not even close to the standards people thought it would be at! I do not love it, but I am quite happy with the endless looks it allows me to create without having to juggle through different palettes in my vanity.

MBF Advises

1. Always use a primer to extend the longevity of products
2. To make the textured shadows work, always use a wet eye shadow brush, as the color shows up better and sticks to the lid.
3. Make sure to tap the excess out, whenever you use matte shadows.
4. To prevent fall-outs from messing your base makeup, use baby powder, swipe it off with a brush once you are done!

  1. Heyy Cidra..welcome to MBF ❤ ❤ ❤
Love the review, so detailed and amazing. Going to be really helpful. I have been wanting to get my hands on this for sometime now. It has mixed reviews everything but you explained quite well how its beauty lies in the versatility of its shades. Do you have any idea if its still available anywhere? I know some instagram page sellers have it but the prices are sky high!

    • Hi Deepti,
      Thank you for appreciating 🙂
Yes, I had high expectations as well, didn’t turn out as good, the foiled shades were my only motive behind getting this palette! 🙂

  3. Hi there! Well done on your entries, they’re informative and have great pictures to go with what you’re saying…as they say, a picture can speak a thousand words. The only thing I would suggest to you is that one of your tips is to use a wet brush to bring out the colours- don’t do that!! Huda stated as a precaution to not use any water or any liquids with the shadows. Also with the metallic shades, Huda as advised to not use a brush and only your finger as it doesn’t pick up the pigment so well and the brush can ruin that shade. Other than that, fantastic post- keep up the good work! Love Claudia x

  4. Thanks for this in-depth and honest review! I’m always on the fence about buying it at my local Sephora whenever it’s in stock, because the color selection is gorgeous, but I’m not sure I’m willing to deal with buyer’s remorse for steep-priced eyeshadow that is not going to last over 5 hours on my lids…
Eyeshadows lasting power is a huge criteria for me, and if I’m going to pour over €64 for a hyped palette, I want it to be very high quality, and very long lasting. I want the product to work for me, and not to have to work to make it work. I’m trying to repeat this as a mantra every time I come across this palette, to resist the urge to buy it, because it looks so good…
