Kiko Water Eyeshadow 203 Burgundy Review, Swatches: Hi everyone, Kiko Milano is an Italian cosmetic brand which was founded in 1997. Since then they have conquered and established quite a name in the beauty industry. Nykaa launched it online in India recently and they had a pretty good offer of giving away a free lipstick with orders amounting to Rs. 1000. I had heard a lot about their water eyeshadows and was quite excited to own one. Since their best selling shade champagne got out of stock almost immediately I decided on getting Burgundy (no. 203).

In Detail Kiko Water Eyeshadow 203 Burgundy Review, Swatches and My Experience

I always love to start with the packaging as it is something that makes the first impression of anything we buy. It comes in a black square plastic box with a black outer carton. Very simple yet elegant packaging. The plastic is good quality and not cheap. It is sturdy and handy.

On opening the lid, there is a small mirror inside with is a good point for me personally. Coming to the eyeshadow (I was waiting for this and was too excited while writing) is in a beautiful ‘swirl’ form… a 3-D swirl not, a flat one. Trust me, I didn’t touch my eyeshadow for almost a week and used to just open it, literally warm my eyes by looking at it, and then used to close it. Then I realised how stupid it was because I’m actually going to waste it due to my OCD!! 😀

Kiko Milano Water Eyeshadow Shade – #203

Moving on to the colour, Burgundy is true to its name. It is dark pink with purple undertones. If you look closely, you can also see purple sparkle in it. But it is very finely milled so the eyeshadow is very smooth and creamy to touch and not at all gritty. It shines beautifully under sunlight and if I swipe it once or use it dry, I was very well able to pull it off even during the day without looking heavy.

The eyeshadow is very pigmented and one swipe of your brush or finger gives you a lot of product. It hardy has any fallout and despite being a powder, it has a somewhat creamy texture. I used it dry first. To my surprise the pigmentation was same under a primer and even when used alone. I’ve never come across any eyeshadow that is so pigmented that its intensity is not affected by a primer. As for using it with a damp brush, the colour intensified.

The use is versatile and you can create looks ranging from soft to smokey.

Performance Card

The water eyeshadow sat on my oily lids for full 5 hours with no primer underneath. I had deliberately used with without base to test the intensity and wear-time on my eyes. It did fade a little and even creased a little but the crease was visible only if one looks very closely. I have even put a closeup of my lids. The arrow in the image shows the crease-line. With primer I have tested it for 7+ hours and I’m sure it would have survived more. But I had to take my makeup off.

I couldn’t click pictures when I used it with a damp brush. It almost had the same intensity but the wear-time did increase a bit.

Overall, I think it is a terrific buy. The quality that has impressed me the most is the colour pay-off and wear time!
