Hi my angels, I have been testing out this new product from Lakme which is their Makeup Primer. Since I have been a lot into makeup for the past few years, I realise the importance of a good primer. This is probably the first makeup primer launched in India by an Indian brand. So I am pretty excited about it. Lakme has been keeping up with the fast pace of the beauty world by its back to back launches. First the Lakme Enrich Matte Lipsticks and now this. Let us get into the details of the Lakme Absolute Blur Perfect Makeup Primer Review. Before we get started, I quickly want to thank Lakme for coming up with a makeup primer at such an affordable cost although the product is launched under their Absolute range which is like a premium Lakme range.

In Detail Lakme Absolute Blur Perfect Makeup Primer Review and My Experience

Like I mentioned before, makeup primer is an absolute essential element for a long lasting makeup. I normally use the Nivea Sensitive skin balm as a makeup primer but when Lakme launched this, I couldn’t wait but purchase it as soon as I could. I bought it 3 weeks back and have been testing it out since then.

It comes in a very professional looking black tube packaging with a silver screw cap. This tube is housed inside a black cartoon box which has all the necessary details about the product. The packaging has been kept very simple yet user friendly. I mostly prefer tube packaging over a bottle or pump dispensers. When I actually ordered this primer, I kind of thought that this is going to be a tiny tube, but guys this is a pretty big tube as you can see in the pictures. So we do get a lot of product. The product outlet is a sort of pin hole through which, product is dispensed in moderation.

Lakme makeup primer has an added floral fragrance to it which is not really a concern since it fades away as I am doing the rest of my makeup. The product is very slippery or silicone like in texture. Feels super soft and velvety. The consistency of the product is more like a light cream. The actual product is light pink in colour but the colour thankfully does not show up once the product is blended.

How I Use it

I take a small pea sized amount of the primer and dot it over my entire face. I make sure I go very evenly distributing equal product on all areas of my skin. This glides on easily but does take a while to blend. While blending I can very well appreciate its silicone like texture. Once blended, it feels very velvety and gives a soft matte look.

Effects

The product works very nicely as a primer. It softens and blurs out minor imperfections or blemishes on my skin. It provides a shine free look with smoothened out skin. The notice that it does brighten up the skin a little bit when freshly applied. Although the product looks baby pink in colour, upon blending I do not notice any colour and it works perfectly for my olive skin tone. So this is pretty much a universal shade which would work out with most skin tones.

My foundation blends out really well when I have the primer on since it makes the skin surface really smooth. The makeup glides on easily on the skin and stays in place for longer than it would without the primer. Although I do not have any obvious pores on my skin, I have noticed it further diminishes the tiny ones around my nose on a closer inspection. What I love about this primer is the fact that it kind of blurs out fine lines on the skin. The makeup looks very flawless and professionally done. My makeup without a primer stays in place for 4+ hours without retouching. With this primer, my makeup stays in place for 6-7 hours. Although I do need retouching around my T zone.

Although I don’t think it controls my natural skin oils, but I appreciate that it doesn’t cause any extra oiliness either. My T zone is the first area on my face which starts getting oily, that is only after 3-4 hours. I dab some translucent powder or use a blotting sheet when this happens. But you have to know that my skin behaves very oily on the T zone area.

Now coming to the points which failed to impress me. Though this foundation works well for a variety of skin tones, I am not sure if this would work for beauties with more deeper skin tone for examples over MAC NC 45 or more. I say this because this primer does contain some pigments therefore I am not sure if this would work out for beauties with NC 45+ skin tones. Thus if you are MAC NC 45+, please swatch it before purchasing it. Another thing which bothers me is the fact that it does not feel completely weightless on the skin. I mean though it doesn’t feel heavy, I can definitely say that I have a product on my skin. So it is extremely important to use it with light hands in moderation. If over applied, this can look cakey or leave a cast.

Overall I have to say I am very happy with this product. If applied carefully, this is an amazing makeup primer. Maybelline is coming up with a makeup primer soon as Pooja told me. So I really want to see how these two compete.

MBF Advises

1. Use of a primer makes makeup last longer and helps keep the pigments in place. So make sure to use a primer whenever you want your makeup to last longer.
2. If you feel like pigmented primers do not work for your skin, go for a transparent one.
3. This primer is very similar to the original Pore-fessional primer by Benefit. Therefore, you can have either one of these and you will be good to go.

  1. Hey Astha, I have tried this new primer and even I liked it overall but I feel this won’t suit very deep skin tones. We need a transparent makeup primer so that everyone can use it .
