In Detail Lakme Absolute Lip Pout Matte Lip Tint Pink Fantasy Review, Swatches and My Experience

The packaging is classy and in the form of a chubby stick. The tube housing the crayon is matte – a reflection of the range’s properties. However, the shade of the lip pout when applied is the same colour as that of the tube. The raw product inside the tube looks different in colour though. The product is exposed in a twist-up style which is good because there firstly, there is no product wastage, and secondly, this property makes it travel-friendly.

Upon opening, the tip of the product has an edge for easy application, but it can become flat after use.

The texture of the tint is not watery – but more like a matte lipstick than. At first, it did seem a tad dry, but the outer layer literally ‘sunk’ into the lips after a few moments and the actual smooth texture was revealed. The smoothness is not creamy, but more like a soufflé. Perhaps this is why it is important to exfoliate your lips before using this product because those who have dry and flaky lips may not get optimum benefit of the product. The lip tint also will tend to settle into lip cracks, giving an unsightly appearance.

The pigmentation and colour payout is medium to buildable. One swipe would give enough colour for staining, but to get the full-on intensity, two swipes are needed. Perhaps the little waxy texture prohibits these from imparting full colour in a single swipe – but that is good for me as I can control if I want the shade to be bright or just like a ‘tint’.

The best bit is that since the product is buildable, layers of the product one on top of the previous do not make the lip colour look cakey or feel heavy on the lips. Rather, it feels rather light – it was easy for me to forget that I had even applied it in the first place. The shade is a bright (almost hot pink without being eye-popping) fuchsia-cum-orchid colour with no peach or brown or red undertones – more bluish or berry, and so pure pink. Though the shade is slight on the cooler side but it will suit every skin tone. It stayed on for 4 hours without any need for reapplication and once I reapplied without wiping the first layer, it lasted another 3-4 hours. Even after fading, there was a slight tint left on my lips. May be this is why Lakme calls this product a ‘tint’.

How I Use it

Because I have dry and growing mature skin, I sometimes apply a little facial oil or lip balm on my lips and wait for ten minutes before lightly blotting it out and applying any lip stick.

Effects of Lakme Absolute Lip Pout Matte Pink Fantasy:

I am a hard core matte lover and I love my matte lipsticks without any sheen as the lack of shine distracts from the oily shine on my face. I did not feel dryness or stretchiness on lips at least for 3-4 hours after using the Lakme Absolute Lip Pout Matte. The best bit is the longevity and staying power. The lip pout stayed on my lips for around 5-6 hours with light meals and snacks! Without meals in between the staying power would prolong! But after heavy meals it starts to fade from the inner rim of the lips. It doesn’t bleed and it fades out evenly. But it does transfer a bit to spoons and glasses. I tried this shade and felt my lips did appear fuller and ‘poutier’. 🙂

  3. I’ve avoided pinks for as long as I can remember. This looks a little too bright. Would you recommend this for all day application? Is this perhaps not right for an office environment?

    • Then you are like me, Deborah! Yes it is a tad bright, so I normally use just one swipe during the day and if I want really intense pigmentation, then two swipes. I think if you keep the rest of your look minimal, you could wear it to work as well.
