In Detail Lakme Sun Expert Ultra Matte SPF 40 Compact Review, Swatches and My Experience
Firstly lets talk about its packaging, lakme sun expert ultra matte compact comes packed in a vibrant yellow colored sleek square cardboard box. The actual compact also comes in a bright yellow compact case with lakme logo and range name printed on its lid. The shade name and its claims printed on back of the compact case.
It comes with a shut lock lid which closes tightly which ensures that the compact is travel friendly. It is also very light weight so it can be carried in handbag easily. The compact case has just one compartment in which compact powder rests and its applicator is placed directly upon compact powder which is very bad according to me. Compact powders should have two compartments one for the powder and one for the sponge applicator.
I threw away its sponge applicator because I don’t apply it with that. When applied with that sponge the application becomes a complete mess for me. Overall I like its packaging. Its cute, fun and very bright colored which is attractive and attention grabbing.
It has a very strong floral smell which I do not like honestly speaking. This smell reminds me of that cheap powders that are sold in local markets on streets.. I dont know why!
This sunscreen compact does not have any shade range it just comes in this one shade. This is said to be universal but it is actually not. You can see in the swatch pictures below. It is light for me, I have nc 42 skin tone. Well, it is 3 shades lighter than my complexion. But yes it does not look greyish on me. However, if you are above nc 45, it can give you a white cast. I hope lakme comes up with at least a few shades for this product.
The texture of the compact is very smooth and finely milled. It glides on my face effortlessly but please avoid applying it with the applicator provided in it apply it with your damp beauty blender for best results.
I apply my foundation or bb cream and upon that I swirl my wet beauty blender on this compact and press it on my skin. Note: I don’t rub this. I press it to get maximum coverage and good layering of it on my face and neck.
The compact is very powdery as well. When applied with a brush, the powder flies everywhere and creates a mess especially when you are wearing black dress (it happened with me).
The coverage it provides is sheer. It basically does not give you any sort of coverage. In fact, when you will try to layer it up, it will give you white cast due to presence of high SPF in it.
It thoroughly mattifies my skin which I love. It will suit all skin type beauties. Although, my dry skin beauties will need some extra moisturisation beneath because it will accentuate your dry patches and flakiness.
It lasts for good about 3 hours on my extremely oily skin. But after that my nose and chin start become oily and shiny. Anyway, I don’t just rely on this powder sunscreen because it cannot give our skin enough protection I feel so. I make sure that I always apply a cream based sunscreen first and than do my regular makeup routine.
