L’Oreal Paris Rouge Magique Lipstick Royal Velouté 909 Review, Swatches: Hi my angels, so Loreal Paris came out with this really amazing range of lipsticks called Loreal Rouge Magique Lipsticks and I have been trying out a few shades from this range. I already talked about Loreal Rouge Magique Lipstick in the shade Scarlet Deja Vu. Therefore today we shall be talking about my second favourite shade from this range i.e. Royal Veloute. According to my knowledge, the word “Veloute” is basically given to a special type of chicken sauce. So I do not know what is the reference for the name of the lipstick. But whatever it is, it sounds quite nice and unique. Hence, let us explore more about this lipstick and learn about my experience with it.

How to Use L’Oreal Paris Rouge Magique Lipstick Royal Velouté

1. There are no usage instructions mentioned on the packaging or on Loreal’s website.
2. Therefore, first and foremost MBF advises you to always prep your lips before applying any lipstick.
3. If your lips are very dry, use a light lip moisturiser or a lip balm.
4. Line your lips with a shade of matching lip liner.
5. Then fill the lips with lipstick. Because this lipstick has good pigmentation, you do not really need to layer it more than twice ever.

In Detail L’Oreal Paris Rouge Magique Lipstick Royal Velouté 909 Review, Swatches and My Experience

The Loreal Rouge Magique lipsticks come in a very pretty matte black and metallic pink packaging. Basically the cap is pink and base is matte. It looks gorgeous! The theme of the packaging is along the lines of Loreal Magique Kajal Supreme black, Loreal Magique Kajal Bold, Loreal Magique EyeLiner, Loreal Magique Compact Powder and Loreal Magique 12 H bright matte foundation. So basically Loreal has this whole entire range of makeup under the “Loreal Magique” range. Honestly, I don’t think any product under this range has not performed. Also, there is a very safe lock mechanism in the lipstick.

These lipsticks have a plastic covering around them which has the ingredients written on it. Also, there’s a sticker which has informations like the price, manufacture details and import. I am super glad that these lipsticks are made in France, so I know I am getting some good quality in there. The lipstick has a slight fruity scent to it.

Texture, Formula, Pigmentation

The lipstick has a very velvety smooth texture. It is so easy to apply this lipstick because it glides comfortably on the lips without tugging. This lipstick is not overly creamy, so it does not get out of the lip margins easily. The formula of the lipstick is not really drying. I mean, its not moisturising as such, but it does not over dry the lips either. Hence, this is not going to make normal lips chappy even if you wear this without a lip balm underneath. Hence the formula is pretty amazing. The loreal magique lipsticks are intensely pigmented. I am talking 100% opaque colour pay off in a single swipe. So my ladies who are into super pigmented lipsticks, you’re going to love this.

Shade – Loreal Rouge Magique Royal Veloute

Royal Veloute is a gorgeous deep wine shade with berry undertones. This is a beautiful shade for my ladies who are into such deep sexy wine shades of lipsticks. Royal Veloute is one of those shades which will suit every single skin tone. It immediately brightens up my complexion and adds a gorgeous vibe to my makeup. Very often, I have just work this lipstick with a black eyeliner and that’s it. I mean this is one of those shades that just makes a statement on its own. You do not need to add a lot of elements to your makeup for an effortless style with this lipstick.

Finish, Wearability and Staying Power

The lipstick takes around 30 seconds to set into this beautiful matte finish. I wouldn’t call it a powdery matte finish, but it is rather a comfortable matte finish which does not turn flaky throughout its wear time. It feels very comfortable on the lips. It continues to be matte throughout its wear time. This does not bleed or father out ever. This basically has no effect on natural lip lines. Neither hides them, nor accentuates them. If you want to turn this lipstick more matte than it already is, you can always do the tissue paper and powder trick.

This lipstick stayed on my lips for 6 hours straight without showing any signs of fading. For 8 hours, I did not really need any touch ups. After that, this started fading slightly mostly from around the centre of my mouth. When it fades significantly, it leaves a wine coloured stain behind on the lips.

Lipstick Removal

In order to remove this lipstick, you need to use a very good oil based makeup remover. If you just use a micellar water, it will take off the pigment, but a strong stain will be left behind. Therefore, please use a good quality makeup remover if you want the stain gone as well. I usually just let the stain stay if I am not going to bed because it looks pretty.

Overall Verdict

I have to say this lipstick priced at INR 650/- beats some of the high end lipsticks in the makeup world. Loreal basically did an excellent job with the formulation as well as the packaging of the lipstick. I am sure if you like super pigmented lipsticks with a comfortable matte finish as well as decent staying power, you are going to love this range of lipsticks by Loreal Paris. 1. Prep your lips for a flawless application and perfect pout.
2. Use a good quality makeup remover to remove the lipstick. Micellar water do take quite some time and still do not remove the lipstick stain.
3. I did not use a lip liner in my swatches above because I wanted to show the true colour of the lipstick. I always have this phobia that a lip liner might change the actual true colour of the lipstick and I want to show the actual colour on my blog. However, I always use a lip liner to line my lips before applying a lipstick when I am going out. Hence, to get a precise margin, use a lip liner.
