In Detail MAC All Fired Up Retro Matte Lipstick Review, Swatches and My Experience

Packaging

Mac Retro Matte Lipstick comes in a black and white printed rectangular cardboard box. The actual lipper comes in a matte black bullet with black cap which is round at the top (the lipstick looks like a gun bullet to me lol). The cap of it closes with a click which ensures it to be travel friendly. I always carry Mac Taupe lipstick with me in my handbag and it has not troubled me. Overall the packaging is standard nothing to get excited for, but it is definitely very sturdy.

Texture & Finish

The texture of this Mac Retro Matte lipstick is very matte as well as quite dry. It feels very dry and does not spread easily on my lips. In fact, it tugs your lips while applying and it needs to be applied with a little pressure. It does not glide on smoothly, though I am not complaining about it as it is a retro matte lipstick.

I have MAC Ruby woo and MAC Flat out fabulous also. But they are not this drying like All fired up. When I wear it without a lip balm, it accentuates dry patches and crumbles on lips from between.

MAC Retro Matte All Fired Up Shade

Mac Retro Matte Lipstick All Fired Up is described by Mac as Bright Fuchsia Matte. But according to me, it is more like a bright reddish pink shade. It will suit every skin tone amazingly. But it is not an everyday wear shade as it is very bright. I do not like its texture, its just because the pretty shade I wear this. Its a very beautiful bright and bold color as the name says ‘All Fired Up’.

Staying Power

Here comes the staying power of the lipstick which is a big blunder for me. This lipstick stays for about 3 to 4 hours on my lips. It does not suffer meal and fades quickly. Without meal, it can stay upto 4 hours maximum. It also leaves a beautiful stain when it fades which I like.

Overall Verdict

Mac All Fired Up is a beautiful reddish pink shade which instantly brightens up the complexion. Though the staying power is low and the texture is also on the dryer side, if you like such shades than you can invest in it.

MBF Advises

  1. Exfoliate your lips thoroughly and apply a good moisturising lip balm to make this lipstick last longer.
  2. If you are a fan of trying new and unique shades than definitely check this shade out.
  3. Do not layer it thrice or more than that as it has the tendency to crumble up on lips.
