I love makeup and in makeup my most favourite product is lipstick. I love lipsticks, I have hundreds of them (more on the way) 😀 I love to experiment with different shades and textures.

Today I am again reviewing a liquid lipstick from MAC Cosmetics. This lipstick is from their Retro Matte Liquid Lipstick collection. I have a few mac lipsticks and I love them to the core. How To Use Mac Retro Matte LipColor Fashion Legacy

1. Apply to lips using the edge of the applicator for a smooth, sharp shape.
2. Use the tip of the applicator to perfect your application.
3. For a diffused look, try blending the edges of the lip with MAC 219 Brush before the liquid lip colour dries.

In Detail MAC Fashion Legacy Retro Matte Liquid LipColour Review, Swatches and My Experience

Packaging

Mac Liquid lipcolor Fashion Legacy comes packed in a regular black MAC cardboard. There are all the necessary information printed on it even ingredients. The inner lip colour comes in a little chubby see through tube with black round top cap. Cap of the lipstick is twistable which closes tightly hence it is leak proof. Tube of the lipstick is quite sturdy therefore travel friendly.

See through packaging of a lipstick is good for me as it is easy to locate. It has a unique spongy applicator which helps to apply lipstick nicely and precisely. However, this lipstick packaging does not look like that it is from a luxury brand. The packaging is overall normal and nothing special.

Texture And Finish

This liquid lipstick from MAC has a beautiful thick creamy texture. It glides on my lips very smoothly as well as evenly. Once applied it sets into a very matte finish within one minute of application. Only one single swipe is needed to cover entire lips.

The pigmentation of the lip colour is to die for. Applying it in one go is very important or else it will be hard to apply the lipstick precisely on outlines once it sets. Applying it only once is recommended, layering it twice may give it little patchy look and will feel heavier. The lipstick is matte but it does not feel dry on lips like most of the liquid lipsticks do. It is very comfortable to wear I feel. It does not make the lips feel dry even if you don’t wear a lip balm underneath.

Shade MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipstick Fashion Legacy

Mac describe this shade as Intense Fire Truck Red. Fashion legacy is intense red with orangish undertone to it. I feel this kind of reds suit our Indian skin tones very well. The shade is very bold and intense as described. It is definitely not an everyday wear shade but this shade will look bomb on black or white outfit. When I wear this shade, I get a lot of compliments and people ask me about it. It will suit every skin tone to the bits. And most important it makes my teeth look more whiter and brighter. Also, it instantly lights up my overall complexion.

Staying Power

Last but not the least is staying power of the lipstick. This lipstick’s staying power is amazing. It suffers meal and does not budge from its place. Its non transferable and does not bleed or smudge. It stayed on me for about 7 hours without meal. It does fade a little after 7 to 8 hours. Removing it is very difficult. I remove it with my coconut oil twice and than with a micellar water to completely get rid of it. It stains lips deeply.

Overall

This lipstick is amazing if you want a good red colour which is pigmented as well as long lasting. A lipstick you should definitely invest in. It is pricey but worth every penny. Beautiful red colour with orange undertones, which will suit every skin tone. Amazingly pigmented and long lasting.

1. I suggest you to apply a lip liner to outline your lips and than apply this to get a nice precise application in one go.
2. Remove it with a good makeup remover, micellar water or coconut oil to completely get rid of the stain it provides.
