MAC X Patrick Starrr Boy About Town Face Kit Review, Swatches: Hey guys, I hope you are all set for the weekend. Winters finally seem to be calming down here and I am very relieved. Meanwhile, the makeup world has kind of calmed down too with its non-stop launches. However, I am sure, some brands like ColourPop, Kylie etc are going to keep up their momentum of back to back launches. Speaking of non stop launches, lets talk Patrick Starrr and MAC.

Well, I was waiting eagerly for MAC to launch the complete Patrick Starrr collection here in India, specially the much talked about setting powder. However, MAC never launched that powder in India. 🙁 Recently, they decided to bring their 2018 holiday collection with Patrick to India. So, well, I went ahead and got it. Today, I am going to review the Boy About Town Face kit. It has an eyeshadow quad and a matte liquid lipstick. Lets talk more in detail below.

Patrickstarrr Boy About Town Kit is a kit of products for eyes and lips that includes an Eyeshadow x 4 palette and Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour in diva-worthy shades. The box and products within are all specially designed in brown and gold travel trunk-inspired packaging and PATRICK STARRR’s signature.

How to Use MAC X Patrick Starrr Boy About Town Face Kit

Eyeshadow: Apply over eye area (eyelid and crease) with a brush, using a pressing motion to build colour for a bolder look. For even more intensity, use over Prep + Prime 24 Hour Extend Eye Base. Apply over eye area with a brush, using a circular motion to blend for a diffused look.

Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour: Apply to lips using the edge of the applicator for a smooth, sharp shape. Use the tip of the applicator to perfect your application. For a diffused look, try blending the edges of lips with a brush before the Liquid Lipcolour dries. Use over Prep + Prime Lip for ultimate comfort.

In Detail MAC X Patrick Starrr Boy About Town Face Kit Review, Swatchesand My Experience

The kit comes in a much talked about “travel trunk”. In pictures it looked like its going to be something. I mean, like at least a hard box. However, guys this is just a regular thin paper box which has a Louis Vuitton inspired trunk print. So yes, I was disappointed with the outer packaging. I was may be hoping for something solid, but all I got was a paper box with a fancy print.

Moving on, the products inside are wrapped in a brown coloured paper (very much like Jeffree Star products are packed). The eyeshadow quad and the lipstick itself do not have any surrounding paper box packaging.

The MAC X Patrick Starrr Overpacked Eyeshadow

The eyeshadow quad looks absolutely stunning in the pictures. If that’s not enough to convince you, go watch patrick starrr’s reveal video. I mean, his eye makeup is beyond beautiful. I gave no second thoughts while getting this kit because of this eyeshadow quad. However, am I happy now? Not entirely to be honest.

The shades of the eyeshadows included here are lovely. But quality wise, MAC X Patrick starrr overpacked eyeshadow quad disappointed me. I am planning on doing a separate review on this palette. So for now, all I would say is, I am not happy with this. Some shades are patchy, some are difficult to blend or just too difficult to work with. The shade I was the most excited about – the gold shimmer one, Prima Donna proved to be a complete mess.

I am not saying that this palette is a complete failure. Makeup artists can of course work their way around it and create gorgeous looks. But what I am trying to imply here is, at this price, I expect top notch quality. Which obviously I did not get. I will talk more about this is detail in the individual review.

MAC X Patrick Starr Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour #PattyPout

I love this name, its unique, it represents Patrick and it represents his style. Its safe to say that this lipstick is only content which salvages this kit. The colour is a classic red with blue undertones. Needless to say, it would almost all skin tones. Its long lasting and gives an even matte finish. Make sure you scrub and prep your lips before applying it for the perfect #pattypout

Overall Verdict

The lipstick is my favourite in this kit. But the eyeshadow quad is underwhelming. However, please know that you may have a different opinion than me. So if you are really into this kit, you can of course try it out for yourself.

I admire patrick starrr and the journey he has had is incredibly beautiful, so I am sure I would risk purchasing his other collabs without blinking an eye. It completely depends on you and your reasons if you would want to go for this kit. Oh, and this limited edition kit is available at almost 40% discount in the united states right now.
