Packaging

Matrix fiberstrong shampoo and conditioner have a silver-grey-green packaging theme. The shampoo comes in a nice sturdy plastic bottle with a flip top. The conditioner on the other hand comes in a tube packaging with a flip open top. Both the shampoo as well as conditioner have all the details including detailed ingredients list on them which is great. Personally, it reflects a sense of responsibility when companies make sure to mention all the ingredients on their products. The packaging is pretty, however you can purchase the bigger jumbo size bottles of the shampoo and conditioner if you’re in the US. In India, I haven’t seen the jumbo size bottles yet.

The shampoo has a slightly runny consistency. Looks like a milky translucent product. It smells really nice and fresh. However, the smell does not really last long after washing the hair. The smell lingers around for like an hour or so and then fades away.

I almost always oil my hair before washing. Hence, sometimes with some shampoos, I need to shampoo twice. However with this shampoo, that was not the case. This shampoo in fact is able to remove all the oils from my hair in one single wash. In fact, if I use this shampoo on un-oiled hair, it dries out my hair. Otherwise this is a good shampoo. It removes all the gunk and oiliness from my hair and makes them squeaky clean.

Therefore, I have only been using this shampoo as a clarifying shampoo. Because for my hair, this definitely feels quite strong. I might have used this on un-oiled hair only like two times. Other times, I dare not use this without oiling my hair. I strongly advise following up this shampoo with a good conditioner or else hair may appear very dry. Specially the hair ends.

The conditioner is moderately thick. White in colour, it smells really lovely. I honestly love the fresh, sorta sweet minty smell this has. Good part is, the smell of the conditioner lasts in the hair for upto 4 hours. It has a slippery consistency which makes it easy to apply on the hair lengths.

I always apply conditioner on the lengths of my hair. Never near the hair roots or scalp. The natural oils produced on the scalp are enough to nourish those few centimeters of newly grown hair near the roots. How much product you need completely depends on your hair length. My hair length currently is 4 inches above my belly button. For my hair length, I need double a coin sized amount each usage.

I spread the product on my hair lengths, and leave it in my hair for around 5 to 7 minutes. Then I wash it off. I make sure I am washing off all the product from my hair. If I leave any product behind in my hair, it results in my hair feeling slightly sticky and not very clean and silky. So always wash off the conditioner properly from your hair.

I really like the conditioner as a product for daily use. It nourishes the hair well and makes them feel softer and silkier. I have been using the matching shampoo with this. It tackles the dryness left behind by the shampoo. I haven’t noticed any extra shine, but yes, hair looks slightly manageable.

Overall Verdict

I feel the shampoo as well as the conditioner are pretty okay for ladies who have oily hair and scalp. However for my dry hair, I would not repurchase this duo. Shampoo can be used as a clarifying shampoo may be, but I wouldn’t use it as my regular shampoo. As far as the conditioner is concerned, I like it more than I like the shampoo. But not enough to repurchase it. It is hydrating and everything, but nothing out of the box or better than other drugstore shampoos available in the market.

Now speaking of the elephant in the room (page 😀 ), did it strengthen my hair? Well the answer must be clear to you by now. I honestly do not see a difference. My hair have been the same way. This duo did not give any extra strength to my hair.

Please note, I personally feel that the fibrestrong range by matrix will be more suited to beauties with oily hair and scalp. It is not for ladies like me who have dry or dry to normal hair types. If you are going to try this shampoo, make sure to condition your hair well or it might leave your hair dry.
