How to use Maybelline Superstay 24 Color 2 Step Lipstick

In Detail Maybelline Superstay 24 Color 2 Step Lipstick Keep It Red 035 Review, Swatches and My Experience

Maybelline has been selling these lipsticks in USA for a while. But to come to India it took them a long time. Maybelline superstay 24 hrs is a two step lipstick.

Packaging

The lipstick comes in a white tube with a transparent container containing lipstick on one side and a roll over lip balm on the other side. The liquid lipstick comes with a pointed foam applicator. The transparent container makes it very convenient to see the colour of the lipstick. I really liked the applicator especially because it made it so easier for me to shape my cupids bow. All in all, it’s a very decent packaging if not a fancy one.

Texture

As I already mentioned, this lipstick is to be applied in two steps. The first step is to apply the liquid lipstick using a brush or directly from the applicator and let it dry completely. The second step is to apply the balm over the dried lipstick and voila, it’s completely transfer proof and long lasting as well. I noticed the liquid lipstick is very sticky on its own and it needs to be covered with the balm to make the stickiness go. Also, after applying the balm the lipstick has more shine. So people looking for matte lipsticks should avoid this.

The product is very light weight. One swipe is enough to give its true colour. Also I did not notice any bleeding outside lip line. Also the balm is good enough to moisturise your lips, so no more drying liquid lipsticks.

Stay power

Maybelline Superstay 24 hrs liquid lipstick, as the name suggests claims to stay for 24 hours. Now practically I haven’t tried for 24 hours. I guess that’s a way too long time for someone to wear a single lipstick.

In fact, I wore this one at a single stretch of 10 hours. I had 2 meals in between and a few small meals. Although I really doubt it will stay 24 hours, but after 10 hours, the product was still there on my lips. Though the lipstick wore off from the centre towards the lip line, I wouldn’t say it that my lips were bare. They still had color on it, a light reddish pink color.

After using this for a couple of days I found that touching up this lipstick is a pain. As soon as I layered it, it started cracking and looked patchy. If you really have to reapply, I would suggest removing the previous product and applying a fresh layer.

Overall, this is a decent product by Maybelline. I checked their USA website and there they had 30 shades, so I am hoping that the company will launch the rest of the shades as well.

Will I buy Again?

I have this lipstick for over two months and I still haven’t thought of getting other shades. Though the shades are very beautiful, but I am too lazy to spend minutes waiting for the lipstick to dry.

Before applying any liquid lipstick, prepping lips is very important. Use a good lip balm over lips and remove extra using a tissue before applying the product.
