After reviewing a lipstick from MAC, I am back with another lipstick review from Nykaa. It is the Nykaa Matteliclious Lip Crayon in the shade Call Me Scarlet. Nykaa is coming up with new makeup products back to back which makes me more tempted. Initially Nykaa launched only 4 shades in this range. But a few months back, they came up with new shades in plums, reds, pinks, n*des – which is very impressive. The shade Call Me Scarlet is one of the newly launched shade. Want to know more about it? There are no usage instructions given on the website. So ladies, prep your lips by exfoliating and moisturising them. Then apply the lip crayon.

Packaging

Nykaa Mattelicious Lip Crayon comes in a bright pink cardboard box with all the necessary information printed on it. The actual lipstick is in the form of a matte black crayon with black cap and colour coded bottom end. The cap is shut lock and closes tightly. Hence you can carry this along and travel hassle free. The lip crayon comes with a separate sharpener. Hence, it is not twistable. I need to sharpen it every now and then which is time consuming and also causes product wastage. I prefer crayons which have twistable packaging like Maybelline colour show lip crayons have.

Texture & Finish

The texture of the Nykaa Mattelicious lip crayon is very soft and buttery. It glides on my lips nicely and effortlessly, without tugging and pulling my lips. Once applied it looks glossy and buttery. But within one minute it sets into a beautiful matte finish. It does not feel uncomfortable on the lips. It sets matte but it is not kiss proof like liquid lipsticks. Hence it does transfer a little onto cups and cutleries. The pigmentation of this crayon is to die for. It is incredibly pigmented. Only one single swipe is more than enough to cover the lips completely with full opacity. I am amazingly impressed with its texture and pigmentation.

Nykaa Call Me Scarlet

The shade Call Me Scarlet is a beautiful blue toned red colour. The colour looks amazing on my complexion. It makes my skin look brighter as well as my teeth look whiter and brighter. This shade will look beautiful on every single skin tone. The shade is very intense and bold which some may not prefer to wear during day time. The shade Call Me Scarlet is a close dupe of MAC Ruby Woo. Here is a picture showing both the shades. The shade above is MAC Ruby woo and below is Call Me Scarlet by Nykaa.

Staying Power

Nykaa Mattelicious Lip Crayon stays on my lips for about 6 to 7 hours. I am also very impressed with the staying power of it. I wore it at a wedding and this lipstick was intact throughout. It has not budged. But after a heavy meal, it had faded a little which was less noticeable however. I remove this lipstick with my micellar water and it comes of easily without staining the lips.

Overall Verdict

Nykaa mattelicious lip crayon is very affordable considering the quality of the lip color. It is a beautiful lip crayon which can make you stand out beautifully. The staying power is amazing which is a desirable quality in all lipsticks. Texture is smooth and very comfortable to wear. Overall, highly impressed with it.

1. Apply a lip balm, remove it with a tissue paper and then apply this lipstick. Do this especially in winter to make it more hydrating and comfortable to wear.
2. Apply a good red lip liner beneath to increase its longevity.
3. Remove it with a good makeup remove to take it off easily.
