In Detail NYX Rome Soft Matte Lip Cream Review, Swatches and My Experience
Packaging and Color
The NYX soft matte lip creams are packed in a chic color-coded lip gloss tube, with a black twist up lid and a doe-foot applicator which applies the color evenly all over the lips. The shade number (SMLC32) and the name of the shade is mentioned at the bottom and the top of the lid. The packaging is really sturdy and travel-friendly, and I quite like it.
The shade “Rome” is a nice pinky, muted brown color mauve undertones. It is a really beautiful color that all skin tones can pull off with ease. However it would go really well with medium skin tones. This is more of an everyday kind of color for me, more of a “my lips but better” shade for some. Because it is light and a good day time color, it would go really well with that no-makeup-makeup look for work or college or just a day out with your girls. The lip color may look a tad bit lighter than it is in real life, it is beautiful anyway.
Texture, Pigmentation and Lasting Power
Coming down to the texture, the soft matte lip cream lives up to its name, as it has a very smooth creamy texture that glides easily on the lips without tugging or pulling. The texture is more like a mousse than a liquid and dries in about a minute giving you that matte pout, feeling really comfortable on the lips. I love how it smells like cake, makes me want to eat it up each time. The pigmentation is pretty opaque. However, I find that it takes me about two coats to cover up my slightly pigmented lips. This is a buildable color and does not look bad even with multiple swipes. The lasting power however is not the best, as you will need to touch up every few hours especially if you have eaten something.
If I could describe the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams in one word, I’d say “AMAZING”, as they are super pocket friendly and available almost everywhere! Everything about the product from color to texture is amazing. The lasting power is not that amazing though, as it won’t be able to survive meals or a drink either. It’s a nice product to invest in and the shade “Rome” is to die for! A good color for day time looks when you want just that hint of color without looking over the top!!
