Olay Regenerist Advanced Anti Ageing Revitalising Serum Review: Hello people!!! I have been on the subject of pollution-related ageing for a while now, and the Olay Regenerist range has impressed me quite a lot. So taken in was I by the Olay regenerist night cream that I bought something to use during the day as well – considering just a plain moisturizer will do nothing to keep the dullness at bay. Wrinkles are not really too much of a concern for me at the moment – it is just the lack of radiance and skin that looks blah. So I picked up the Olay Regenerist Revitalising Serum and let’s see how it fared.

About Olay Regenerist Revitalising Serum

Olay has a rather descriptive website where they detail exactly what is it that makes their products work. For this one, the descriptor says: “Formula helps to- Deliver anti-ageing ingredients into skin’s epidermis layer- Reduce fine line & wrinkle appearance with moisturisation- Exfoliate and smooth skin- PLUS: Hydrates to help plump skin. Formula with Amino-peptide Complex penetrates into skin’s surface. PLUS: Formula with Hydra-Firming Complex helps retain skin’s youthful look.” Hmm… rather tall claims I say.

Benefits of Olay Regenerist Revitalising Serum

Again, according to the website, the formula helps to

– PLUS: Hydrates to help plump skin

In Detail Olay Regenerist Advanced Anti Ageing Revitalising Serum Review, Swatches and My Experience

The outer packaging of the product follows the Regenerist colour theme of red. The no-fuss card-paper box contains an ergonomically designed bottle that has a nozzle. The outer box has all the desired information – ingredients, how to use, benefits etc. The bottle itself is quite compact – and easy to travel with as well. The bottle is opaque and so keeping track of the amount of product used or left is not easy. The pump works well and dispenses just the right amount of product each time.

What’s more, the texture of the cloudy-looking serum is not too viscous or runny. The scent is subtle and not strong – but very fresh. The texture is smooth and spreads really well on application. A little goes a long way (I bought the bottle a month ago and it has only just reached the halfway mark) and hence only one pump of the product is enough for the full face. There is no sticky feel to the skin which is good when it comes to a serum – which is why it can be used during the day as well – either under makeup or on its own as well.

Initially I found the post-application texture a bit ‘plasticky’ – it feels like you have applied something like silicone. But after about an hour, the serum feels fine. It is lightweight yes, but it does make you aware that you have indeed applied something. Also, it does take time to get fully absorbed. You can tell that the product has been absorbed if after touching your skin, it doesn’t feel ‘damp’ or sticky. There is a long lasting ‘smoothening’ effect on the skin and that is best felt when you have to go out in the day and cannot apply too much makeup because of the heat and humidity..

Due to the ultra-smooth and watery texture, this can be used as a primer before makeup. I have been doing this religiously and have noticed how easy it is to apply makeup. When used as a primer, this serum works in the same way that a ridge-filler works on nails. Makeup just glides on effortlessly. I have also noticed how it increases the staying power of the makeup – no smudgy lips or cakey complexion. While you can use it in the night too, I mostly use it only once – during the day – after my bath and after toning my skin. This could also be because I usually prefer something richer in the night on my face – because I can get away with an oil or some cream on my face at that time.

How I Use it

I cleanse my face thoroughly and after patting it dry with a muslin cloth, I gently apply toner. After the toner has dried, I squeeze out two pumps of the serum and dot it all over my face and neck. I use my fingertips to tap it (my mom calls it the ‘finger tap dance’) it into my skin. Since I don’t use too much foundation or BB cream – this product doubles as the perfect primer as well.

Effects of Olay Regenerist Revitalising Serum

The most important thing about this product for me is the fact that it is not an oil-based serum and therefore can be used during the day. It multitasks as a primer that is healing your skin while being a superb base for makeup. I didn’t see too much of a change for the first 6-7 days except that the skin appeared more supple and bouncy. But after a week, my skin felt smoother and more even-toned.

After continued use, the pores seemed less prominent. My skin felt nourished, and of course hydrated – and looked it too. The amino-peptide complex penetrates deep into the epidermis layer to make the skin look plumper. Or perhaps the skin looks plumper because the exclusive amino-peptide technology fights the signs of ageing such as lines, pores, and spots. It doesn’t cause breakouts – in fact my sensitive skin appeared and felt much calmer.
