88th Academy Awards or commonly referred to as Oscars 2016 ceremony was held on the 28th of February, 2016 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles. Apart from its very purpose of honouring the best films and actors, Oscars is also a limelight event for faishonistas. Top notch celebrities from all over the world get together on the red carpet flaunting their best looks. So MBF decided to take a look and pick out some of the best dresses from the event this year.

Kate Winslet

We must start with the well loved actress all over the globe for her memorable role in The Titanic. She wore a gorgeous black 3D gown by Ralph Lauren. She arrived at the red carpet with Leonardo Dicaprio who himself was dressed in Armani Tuxedo.

Charlize Theron

You will remember her from “Snow White and The Huntsman” where she played “Ravenna”. The very stylish red gown she wore is from the house of Dior Haute Couture. Also loved the diamond pendent, goes perfectly with the outfit!

Emily Blunt

I couldn’t help but go “awwwww…” about this adorable blush dress from Prada. Emily shows off the baby bump in a simple yet very graceful gown. Also the clutch she’s carrying adds a star to the complete look.

Brie Larson

First of all, let’s congratulate her on winning the oscars for Best Actress in a Leading role for “Room”. Secondly, I love her dress. The dress is custom designed by Gucci. That metallic or sparkly belt adds so much to the dress! I completely adore this look.

Cate Blanchett

“Galadriel” from “The Lord of the Rings”, well we all know her for her role. Now let’s appreciate her for this fabulous floral dress she wore from the house of Armani. The dress has swarovski crystals studded. Do not forget the fern like diamond ear rings!

Alicia Vikander

Though it looks like her dress was inspired by “Belle” from “Beauty and the Beast”, I have to say, she flaunted this yellow bubble hem Louis Vuitton gown at the 2016 Oscars like no other. She also won the award for Best Actress in Supporting role for “The Danish Girl”.

Rachel McAdams

She is one of my favourite actresses and her dress makes me go WOWWWW! This glam backless jade colored August Getty Atelier halterneck dress with Stuart Weitzman heels is going to be a style statement for a long time, trust me.

Priyanka Chopra

Here comes our Indian diva who has gained much fame in the Hollywood by her unmatched talent. Love her graceful gown by Zuhair Murad. Do you notice she is wearing no necklace? Guess what, she did not keep it subtle and in fact went quite overboard. Apparently the diamonds Priyanka wore were in her earrings and finger rings were over 50 carats and amounted to approximately $8 millions!

Sofia Vergara

Who does not remember her from “Modern Family”. She is one of my fav TV actresses and I was really impressed by her simple yet classy gown she wore. Usually she is the one who would wear mermaid style dresses however, she took everyone by surprise when she flaunted this billowing ball gown by Marchesa and pulled-back pony! Well Sofia, we are loving the surprise.

Margot Robbie

Margot looked incredibly stunning in her plunging gold snakeskin gown by Tom Ford. She accessorised with a long tailed bold black clutch which went so well with the look.

Jennifer Garner

Jennifer held the breaths with her ever so graceful one-shoulder black Atelier Versace gown. Her make up needs a special mention here which was kept subtle yet classy to go with the statement gown. She kept the jewellery simple and heels super high! The partially embellished black gown left a statement like no other indeed. Totally Loved it!

Olivia Munn

She is the “Psylocke” in “X-Men” for those of you who may not recognise her in this avatar since she has this marvel superhero image in our minds. She carries this tangerine gown perfectly on her slender figure. The gown was designed by Stella McCartney.

Lady Gaga

Continuing her previous years Legacy, Lady Gaga was widely rated as the best dressed at the Oscars this year. She was wearing a custom designed Brandon Maxwell dress. Do you notice that she is not wearing much jewellery? Well that’s because the little jewellery she is wearing on her fingers and ears alone cost over $8 millions!

Saoirse Ronan

Saoirse carried this gorgeous dress by Calvin Klein with class and grace. Love the deep green embellished dress with impressive plunging neckline and strap line back.

Rooney Mara

This lacey looking subtle white dress is from Givenchy. I love how she carries it with a great poise. I think her personality adds so much to the dress. Notice the slit, that’s the star of the design.

Julianne Moore

She flaunted this Chanel gown with all the grace she possibly could. No wonder the dress lifts up the entire mood. With makeup, she has gone a little bit heavy on the eye but otherwise the makeup looks really subtle. If you notice her bracelet, yes! that’s another beautiful jewel in the look.
