Plum Green Tea Clear Face Mask Review: Green tea is popularly known for its anti inflammatory action on the skin. Due to this, it has been incorporated in numerous skin care products for acne prone skin. My skin type is combination and I do get some break outs once in a while. However, around a month back I started noticing these tiny bumps on my forehead.

Plum Green Tea Clear Face Mask Review

These forehead bumps are usually caused by clogged pores or ducts of sweat glands. In our medical terminology, we call these “Milia”. Usually there are various degrees or kinds of Milia, but here I am talking about the commonest one which is often associated with sun damage. So I really needed something to calm down my skin as well as clean it up nice and deep. That’s the reason I decided to pick up this Plum face mask as it says it has Kaolin clay, Bentonite clay, green tea leaf extracts as well as glycolic acid.

In Detail Plum Green Tea Clear Face Mask Review, Swatches and My Experience

The mask comes in a thick glass tub with a white screw open cap. There is a 2nd lid inside so that the product stays protected and does not spill out during transportation. Although I really love how the product looks in its luxurious glass, I hate to say that its not something I can travel with. Reason being, that the glass makes it quite heavy as well as fragile. While travelling, I do not keep such items in my check in or carry on baggage. I am quite afraid that if the glass breaks, its going to cause a mess everywhere inside the bag. Therefore, the packaging isn’t travel friendly. However I love the fact that Plum has mentioned every single detail about the product on the packaging.

When you open the lid and look at it, it looks just like any other kaolin clay mask. It looks quite thick and pasty in consistency inside the jar. However, when you apply it on your skin, its quite smooth and feels creamy. It applies very easily and evenly. The mask smells nice with hints of green tea. The scent is pretty mild though so sensitive noses need not worry.

How I Use it

Before applying the mask, I wash my face properly and dry it. Then, I apply a thin even layer of this mask all over my face and neck. It applies smoothly and evenly. I leave it on for around 20 to 25 minutes after which, I wash it off with normal temperature water. Because it is a clay based mask, it does create a tiny bit of a mess in my sink while I wash it off. To avoid this, you can use the mask half an hour before you plan on taking a shower.

Effects

Immediately after applying the mask, I feel a relaxing cooling sensation on my skin. There is some tingling sensation as well but its really mild and you may not notice it sometimes. The mask usually takes around 15 to 20 minutes to dry. But I usually keep it on for an additional 5 minutes because I feel like this way clay masks are able to clean the pores better. After washing it off, my skin looks really fresh and clean. Although this is a clay based mask, it never dries out my skin. May be because it contains ethyl-hexyl-glycerine which is a skin conditioning agent.

I have been using this mask for over a month now and I have to say if served my purpose. It helped calm down my skin inflammation and over a period of time those bumps on my forehead are gone. The mask also gently exfoliates the skin due to the presence of glycolic acid in it. Hence, it does deep cleanse the skin. I do not suffer from acne however I do get small breakouts sometimes. I have noticed that since I started using this mask, the frequency of those breakouts is greatly reduced. I just has like 1 or 2 tiny breakouts last month. The mask also helps to even out the skin tone to an extent, but this effect takes around 2 to 3 weeks of continual usage to become apparent.

Overall Verdict

Overall I feel this is a great clay based face mask specially suited for combination and oily skin beauties with acne prone skin. Although dry skin beauties can use this, because it doesn’t dry out the skin. But if you are someone with dry skin and you decide to use this, please make sure to moisturise your skin really well afterwards. I have to say I really like the combination of ingredients in this mask. However this mask is not completely chemical free and does contain some chemicals as well as added fragrance. At this price, this mask is quite nice I feel. I have been using this twice weekly for the last one month and I have almost used up half of it. So I think with twice weekly usage, this should last for approximately 2 months.

If you have used this face mask, please do not forget to share your experiences with everyone in the comments below. Is this one of the best masks that you’ve ever tried? Of not, which is your goto face mask?
