Revlon Colourstay Liquid Foundation Review

Hi my loves!

I am going to talk about a foundation today that I have been using since the last couple of months quite on and off.

Revlon Colourstay

Description by the Company:

Enhance your skin’s natural radiance with the Revlon ColorStay Makeup Foundation. Featuring SoftFlex technology, the oil-free foundation offers lightweight comfort so that you look fresh throughout the day. Revlon SoftFlex foundation is so lightweight you will feel like you aren’t wearing any makeup at all. This moisture-balanced formula is suitable for combination skin and oily skin. How to use:

Shake Well. Apply to One Area At A Time, Blending Quickly. Remove With Facial Cleanser.

Price:

I bought from a Lifestyle store for around 700 Rs (INR)

My Opinion:

I often have a hard time finding myself the perfect foundation that would be great for my skin type, give me the right coverage, won’t cake, won’t clog the pores, wont look chalky or weird.

Well well, that search is still on!

I personally feel that the variety of foundations available in India is very limited. Some would give me an awesome coverage but wont suit my skin type and vice versa. I like to try foundations from so many different brands. In fact, I have tried water based, mousses, compact foundations and many more.

Anyways, coming back to the topic, I got this foundation because I have an oily-combo skin and SA matched me to this shade sand beige.

It comes in a glass bottle with a screw cap, though I feel at this price they could have included a pump dispenser. We are talking about our face here, and we dont want any bacteria and impurities getting into the product that we are going to put on our faces. I like the fact that they have given a list on ingredients on the outer covering.

The consistency of the foundation is pretty liquidy. I mean if I put it on my hand, may be it wont flow but you turn your hand and it would obey gravity. I often use my clean fingers to apply my foundation because girl, you can never go wrong with your fingers! Your fingers are like the best make-up tool that God gave you. Though if I am using a solid foundation, I would of course go for a brush or my sponge.

As you can see in the picture, it gives a very light coverage.Light coverage is good when you can’t put a ton of make up or when you are going for a very natural look. It dries up pretty fast on application I would say, so my girls, you need to be fast when you are working it up on the face. You also would need extra effort trying to blend this around any fine lines. I know this sounds weird but because this baby dries quickly, if you are not that fast, it tends to dry up and shows up around lines on the face.

This gives a pretty matt finish look which is the desire of an oily skin girl. But because I do have some dryness around my cheek area, I find this doesn’t really give that nice even finish in those areas. So, you need to moisturise your skin properly. And don’t worry, this is going to make you look matt.

Speaking of the staying capacity, I would say it doesn’t need attention for a good 5-6 hours which is decent, though I would have loved an longer lasting one.

One thing that I want to mention specially is the smell. This one smells funny. I mean it smells like a very mild form of paint to me. So if you have sensitive nose, I would say smell this before you buy it.

Overall I would say this is a decent product, I mean if you are looking for decent light coverage daily wear foundation, this is a good choice. I will say, dry skin beauties to skip this one, or if they use it, they must really moisturise the face well beforehand.

I hope you liked my review on this one.

Pros

1. A water based foundation, good for oily-combination skin girls.
2. contains spf 6, well it isn’t really enough but anyways something is better than nothing.
3. Pretty long wear
4. Comes in 12 different shades, so you have a variety to match your skin tone.
5. easy to blend
6. Quite easily available
7. Decently priced

Cons

1. Not good for dry skin beauties
2. For combination skin, you need to make sure your dry patches are well moisturised before use, so I would suggest using a light moisturiser before applying this one.
3. The smell is not very appealing to me.
