“Give a woman a red lipstick and she can conquer the world” is the most appropriate saying in the makeup world. My love for Red Lipsticks surfaced the moment I put one on. The first red lipstick I ever used was MAC Russian Red.

The last time I was at Shoppers Stop, Bangalore I guess in the month of January I came across this lovely range of lip colours from Shiseido and immediately grabbed a couple of shades. So this one right here is basically a repurchase since I love it so much! 🙂

Inspired by Japanese Lacquerware, one coat provides intense color and deep luster. Shiseido Lacquer Rouge liquid lipstick leaves lips as smooth as lacquer. Applicator fits closely against the lips for a comfortable, even application that does not bleed. Lacquer Rouge improves dry, rough or peeling lips with continued use, leaving them smooth and deeply moisturized.

Packaging

As far as the packaging is concerned, it hits the class mark. The outer cartoon, black and red can never go wrong. It has all details on it in different languages considering it is an international brand. The lipstick has a gun metal coloured outer body. The material is basically some hard fibre/plastic. It has a screw mechanism. Very lightweight and sleek.

The applicator wand

The liquid lipstick wand is a spongy doe foot applicator. It has just the right length so that we can apply the colour on the lips comfortably. They haven’t gone too hifi with the overall packaging but have kept it basic, classic and yet very elegant.

Texture and Formula

This has a very soft velvety liquid formula. Love how its so creamy, smooth and upon application makes the lips look so healthy. There is absolutely no stickiness. The formula is totally fantastic with this lip colour. It feels like a lipstick, has that glamorous glossy pigmented lip gloss look and it moisturises the lips like an awesome chapstick. Completely adore this as far as the formula and texture are concerned. Another good thing about this lip colour is, it does not have fragrance to it. Unlike the brands like Guerlain who like to load the product with a bunch of fragrances, Shiseido has kept is simple and I really like it this way.

Shiseido Lacquer Rouge Shade RD 501 and its Pigmentation

This shade is a very nice vibrant red with cool undertones, tends to look a little burgundy if overapplied. The colour intensity is a total bomb dot com. Gives a hundred percent opaque finish in a single swipe. It is so rich in pigmentation that I had to control my emotions and apply the product in limited quantities on my lips. It’s completely amazing how the pigment immediately brightens up the complexion. It is such a versatile shade with lovely pigmentation that you can wear it almost anywhere at anytime of the day.

Staying Power

Even though the colour does transfer a bit, it does not loose its richness and shine with 2 or 3 cups of coffee. It stayed on me for a good 5 to 6 hours and when it faded, it left an even stain on the lips.

MBF Recommendations

This is one of those lip products that you can apply without a lip balm underneath. Its so moisturising that in face this would also heal dry, peeling, chapped lips. It’s very true to its colour. Has a very rich and intense pigmentation. Stays for long and fades evenly. Never has it made me notice any dry patches. On removing it with a makeup remover, it comes off pretty much in toto. I have a picture showing how it looks when taken off with a baby wipe in a single wipe. If you closely notice, there are certain file shimmers but absolutely unnoticeable on the lips.

Overall, I would say this is my all time favourite lip colour. This was the second time I got this. Thought it is a bit on the expensive side, I completely adore the formula, pigmentation and staying power of this lip colour. It gives me the most bomb dot com lips which look super lustrous and plump. Enhances the complexion and just goes along with almost all makeup looks. This is giving a head on competition to the Chanel’s Rouge Allure Laque range.
