Ballerinas or Ballet shoes originally were meant to be worn during this dance form called Ballet. Ballet is an Italian dance form which is quite challenging to be honest. We have seen the actresses dancing on the toe tips, well that is what I mean when I say challenging. Coming back to our topic, Ballerinas nowadays does not strictly refer to the Dance shoes. It also includes the flat ballet shoes that we wear day to day.

Here I am writing to give you guys a basic idea about the types of classical Ballet shoes and show some really pretty Bellie Boots which will make a fashion statement when you wear them.

Classical Types of Ballet Shoes/ Ballerinas

1. Soft Ballet Shoes

These have soft sole material. Mostly worn by beginners. These allow the feet to adjust and adapt to the demands of the new positioning required by the dance form. Again, these can be with the ankle straps or without depending on how the dancer prefers.

2. Pointe Shoes

As the dancer gains some experience of the dance form, they move on to wearing these. These shoes basically are made so that they exactly support the foot and toes of the dance in order to balance the body weight. Most often they are custom made for the dancer who will be wearing them because as you can guess, it is extremely important that they fir perfectly.

3. Full and Split Sole Ballet Shoes

When we look at the sole of the ballerinas, we can appreciate if it is a full sole or split sole shoes. The sole which is typically made of suede leather. In Full sole, the suede covers the entire sole area while in the Split sole the suede covers the major heel and toe areas. Split soles give more flexibility whereas the full soles give better support. This is the reason why new dancers usually go for Split Sole Ballerinas and the Experienced dancers chose the Split Sole Ballets.

Besides these, Ballet shoes can be made out of leather, canvas. Leather adapts to the shoe size while canvas shoes cannot stretch hence can accomodate wider feet. Besides, when I took Ballet training, I remember my instructor often told me how the ballets choose us. We need to start from the basics and try different types to learn which one best suits us.
