In Detail The Body Shop Spa Of The World French Lavender Massage Oil Review and My Experience

I love The Body Shop! And I also love beauty oils – both for the face and body.
The packaging is practical and sensible – it’s a dark tinted stubby plastic bottle with a wide base to ensure that the bottle stands well, and not topple over to cause spilling. The dark tint of the bottle ensures that the product remains stable – aromatherapy texts mention that lavender oil changes properties with exposure to harsh light – so this is a great thing.

The sturdy plastic bottle is safe from breaking. There is no cardboard box or anything with it, just the bottle and it has got a screw-on cap. Once opened, the oil is contained in the bottle by a plastic stopper with a small hole to dispense the oil. The best thing is that there is no free flow – there is enough control on how much oil you would like to dispense. I am so glad it does not have a pump! Because a pump does make it messy! This factor was so important for me.

First things first, the skin on my body is rather dry while the skin on my face is combination. My skin feels really stretchy if I don’t use a moisturizer (in summer) or a body oil (in winter). Oils definitely work better because they are absorbed into the deeper layers of the skin and end up nourishing the skin much better than simple moisturizers. I would steer clear of oils because of the ‘oily’ smell and also the fact that they end up staining clothes. But not this one!

We all have heard and/or experienced the beauty of lavender oil – it’s calming, it helps the senses and the body relax, and has a very soothing effect. Though the lavender oil is fairly low in the ingredient list – superseded by sweet almond oil, sesame oil and Jojoba oil, the fragrance of lavender is still fairly strong, though not overpowering.

The oil itself is not very thick, it’s light and is easily absorbed into the skin. Like I mentioned – I was sceptical about using it in summers, but I found a way out – I simply put 7-8 drops into my bath water to keep my body moisturized and non-sticky. Yes, you do feel that you have applied a mild oil on your body – so I keep the oil’s direct application restricted to my night-time bath ritual.

The other thing – a little goes a long way. You don’t really need a ton of product for the whole body – so it won’t even stain your clothes.

There is nothing more relaxing than a massage before bedtime, especially with the lavender scent to get you off to sleep. The scent is quite strong but it smells divine. The moisture locks into the skin very well. I would definitely buy it again, it is a little pricey but worth the money!

The best part about this oil is obviously the calming effect – helps body relax and induces good sleep. I am almost addicted to it!

How I Use it

I usually use this after my night shower ritual before sleeping – the lavender scent helps you relax before you sleep. Generally I focus on my legs and feet – boy, those hurt the most at the end of the day! I have also started carrying a small amount in a travel bottle for my journeys – it works as a body oil.

Effects of The Body Shop Spa of The World French Lavender Massage Oil

The lavender smell is so relaxing and smells like you’re lying in a lavender field of happiness. he French Lavender oil smells exactly like lavender and instantly soothes and relaxes the senses. I like to rub a few drops of this on damp skin after a shower and it quickly absorbs in without any greasy after-feel. The scent is not overpowering and lingers no longer than two hours which is perfect. Even when I’m not doing the whole spa ritual, I like to use this, especially before bedtime for instant relaxation!
