Hello there pretty lady! Hope your day is going awesome! Let’s talk more makeup! We all love to do it! Today I’m bringing you my thoughts on the Violet Voss Eyeshadow palette in collaboration with YouTuber Laura Lee.  Let’s go through the Violet Voss x Laura Lee Eye Shadow Palette Review, Swatches to see how it worked out for me…

Violet Voss x Laura Lee Eye Shadow Palette Review Swatches

I started following Violet Voss a few months ago when I saw posts about their breath taking Holy Grail palette which is a warm neutral lover’s dream. The only thing that irked me about that palette, and stopped me from buying it, was that there was no real deep shade in the palette and that’s super important to me. I started to see posts about a new palette and I was intrigued. Not only was it also warm, but it had a black, which is staple for me and also similar warm tones to the Holy Grail palette. It was the best of both worlds!

Claims for Violet Voss x Laura Lee Eye Shadow Palette

Hey guys, thank you so much for being a part of this palette with me! I’ve worked so hard creating the perfect go-to palette with a little sass. This palette is a dream come true and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

How to Use the Eye Shadow Palette

  1. Prepping the eyes is important. Use an eye primer, paint pot, concealer or even your foundation to color correct the eyes and set with a translucent powder.
  2. Apply a transition shade to create a pathway for the rest of the shadows to merge beautifully.
  3. Use the metallics on the lids with your fingers or a flat shadow brush, whilst working in the mattes with a fluffy blending brush
  4. Finish the look with some eyeliner and falsies!

In Detail Violet Voss x Laura Lee Eye Shadow Palette Review, Swatches and My Experience

So the swatches had me convinced that I need this palette in my life and I’m like DAMN those are some bomb colors and pigmentation. But then I noticed, people were mostly swatching the metallic, which tend to be good. More often than not, the mattes are where quality lacks. I started going through reviews and saw that honest YouTubers weren’t too thrilled with this palette. Some even claimed that its Morphe quality with a higher price tag. I’m not sure if I agree with this. So I decided against getting the palette.

Fast forward a couple of months, and I find myself falling for the colors all over again in this palette and I ended up getting it, and I find myself reaching for it quite often. It has all the neutrals I could need, with a sizzling bright metallic green which is my favourite shade in the palette!

When I first dipped my brushes into the mattes, the color payoff wasn’t too great. I really had to build them up for the color to show on my light to medium toned skin. But after the initial use, they were fine. Some of the mattes tend to look muddy, but apart from that, I have no issue with their performance. I’m really happy I ended up getting it eventually!

Now the packaging is matte black but prone to finger print smudges which I hate. Its standard Violet Voss packaging. The pans are decently sized and the names are super cute. Laura Lee named each shadow herself, and she explains the background/meaning in her video revealing her palette.

One more concern I saw in reviews was that the metallic shadows creased a lot more easily than other regular metallics. Personally, all metallics transfer on my eyes since I have hooded lids, so I can’t say I noticed anything different on that front

Here is a look I did using the palette!

Pros of Violet Voss x Laura Lee Eye Shadow Palette

1. Well rounded palette – Great color selection
2. Good mix of mattes and foils
3. Super pigmented foil/metallic shadows
4. Easy to work with
5. Decent sized pans
6. Giant mirror

Cons of Violet Voss x Laura Lee Eye Shadow Palette

1. Limited Edition so its sold out
2. Price tag – $45 plus shipping!
3. Finger print prone packaging
4. Some mattes are a little muddy
5. Not easy to travel with because it’s big.

MBF Advises

1. Using a base/primer is very important (and setting it with either basic or a light colored shadow to make a smooth canvas)
2. Metallic/foiled shadows work well when used with fingers
3. Work into the palette. Some shadows initial top layer blocked the pigment a bit. Once used, the layer is gone and there is pigment everywhere!
4. Always touch the palette with clean hands or it will look like a mess

MBF Rating

4 / 5

I’m glad I got my hands on this palette. I find myself reaching for this palette often. That being said, I probably won’t get any more Violet Voss palettes unless they go on major discount because I don’t feel the palettes are worth the price tag! Still have my eye on their Holy Grail palette. They do have a new one coming out so let’s see how that one turns out!

Hope this review was helpful! Feel free to ask any further questions. Have you tried this product? Let me know your thoughts!

Have a great day beautiful! 🙂
