Wella Professionals Oil Reflections Luminous Smoothening Treatment Review: Hi everyone, hope everyone is doing well and staying safe. I have been using Wella oil reflections serum for 3-4 years now. I was introduced to this product by my hair stylist, he would always apply this serum after wash and my hair would feel so soft and healthy.
Also, they wouldn’t tangle at all which obviously meant less tugging and lesser breakage. So, after a couple of times, I bought a bottle and have been using Wella professionals oil reflections ever since.

In Detail Wella Professionals Oil Reflections Luminous Smoothening Treatment Review and My Experience
Even after using oil reflections for such a long time this one was quite a surprise to me, I thought this was the same product, just the packaging was different, but turned out to be totally a different one. I don’t know they tried to make it a better product or discontinued that one and launched a new range entirely.
But the one I used to use earlier was Wella professionals oil reflections smoothening oil. There isn’t much difference in the name and the description was also quite similar so I ordered this one thinking the packing must have changed. The earlier one (oil) came in a red and yellow color packing this has total golden theme. I had used around 3-4 100 ml bottles of that one and then I ordered this, since I didn’t know if it was exactly the same formula or not, I ordered the small version i.e. 30 ml one.
It’s a good quality plastic bottle which feels very high quality and looks like a glass bottle from a distance. Its basically a transparent bottle which has a golden sticker all around it which makes it difficult to know how much product is actually left in the bottle. They should have left a tiny space somewhere for that, no? but it’s a very sturdy bottle, it doesn’t break or get damaged in any way. The quality of the packaging is extremely good.
It’s has a pump and a cap over it and the fact that this is the smaller version makes it ideal to travel with, the pump is very good, just takes a few attempts to get the product the first time after that, a single attempt is enough to get the product.
It’s a colorless, very light, weightless kind of formula with water like consistency but with a very minimal oil like properties. The product is actually an oil and is listed among the hair oil category on the website.
It’s not very thick and doesn’t feel oily at all but very soft, slippery kind of texture. It has quite a bit of salon like fragrance which isn’t too strong and vanishes after a couple of hours. But since it a light weightless formula it doesn’t weigh your hair down at all or give you oily scalp in a couple of days.
I always use this post shampooing my hair, towel dry my hair and apply this as a serum or if I don’t have the time to do much with my hair take a couple of pumps and apply it to get rid of the fizz. I have never used it as a hair oil. For me this has always been a hair serum and that’s how I have used it. Applying a pump or two as an oil won’t make a difference and its not oily enough to nourish the scalp at all so why?
What I had expected from it considering the earlier version that I have used was that it will stay for at least 3 days like, would make my hair look fresh and frizz free for at least 2 days and give a nice shine to it also would require just 1.5-2 pumps of product.
What actually happens with this one is, stays for almost 2 days and keep my hair frizz free for almost a day, doesn’t give any noticeable shine to my hair and takes up more than 2 pumps of the product. Adding a couple of drops extra wouldn’t even make a difference.
But it has been something that suits my hair and I have tried a few other products and ended up throwing them away or giving it to a friend or a family member who so ever it has worked for in the past. So, I know I’ll be purchasing a bigger bottle of this next.
Pros of Wella Professionals Oil Reflections Luminous Smoothening Treatment
Doesn’t weigh the hair down
Not at all sticky
Avoids tangling for up to 24 hours
Suits my dry frizzy hair
Comes with a pump
Acts like a good serum
Cons of Wella Professionals Oil Reflections Luminous Smoothening Treatment
Cannot see how much product is left
Doesn’t stay for more than 2 days
Needs a little more product
Not ideal as a hair oil
It has worked as a great hair serum for me and never as a hair oil, maybe because I have very dry and frizzy hair. Try it with a mask, as a hair serum or hair oil, whichever way it suits you, you don’t have to stuck on the hair oil part of it. It has been a versatile product for a lot of people that I know of.
