Even non ayurvedic brands have products full of natural extracts these days, some other names given to such products are herbal/organic/natural etc. But because some brands like Forest Essentials have created an identity of being Ayurvedic, its products by default are called ayurvedic. Although, they also contain some not so mainstream natural ingredients. For example this contains Sorbic acid and Caprylyl Glycol which are derivatives from natural sources.

In Detail Forest Essentials Aloe Vera & Neem Body Lotion Review, Swatches and My Experience

This forest essential lotion that I have is a sample size. But the full size comes in a classic square FE bottle with a flip top. The packaging is simplistic, functional yet looks quite luxurious with its golden cap.

The forest essentials lotion is white in colour. It has a smell that no where is near aloe vera or neem. I expected it to have a little aloe smell at least but no! In fact, this smells very much like our regular nivea cream. That creamy, powdery smell – if you can relate to what I am trying to explain. The consistency of the lotion is quite thin.

I used it after bath. I usually like to apply my body moisturisers almost immediately after bath when the skin is still slightly plum from the water. This helps lock in the moisture. I used it the same way. Mostly in the morning because at night I like something even more thick and moisturising like a body butter.

The lotion moisturises the skin nicely. It is easy to massage on the skin and it does not leave any residue. It makes the skin feel soft without being sticky at all. After I have applied it, I do not need to reapply a moisturiser for at least 4-5 hours (summers). Now while this is just really good for summers, this does not suffice for winter. In winter season my dry to normal skin needs something more rich and more moisturising. Or may be a body oil, but normal lotions like this are definitely not enough.

All in all, I feel like this is a decent body lotion which is composed of almost all natural ingredients. But looking at the price I have to say it is expensive. My only disappointment is the smell. I mean its not offensive or anything, but it really does smell like our regular nivea creams. When I am spending so much on something, I do expect at least some natural scent. I even wonder if this is an added fragrance because they do not mention parfum as an ingredient, I cannot say for sure, but still I wonder how were they able to get this smell without any added fragrance.
