Earlier I wrote about the REN Evercalm Global Protection Day Cream, which I enjoyed using although I wish it had some SPF in it. Anyways, let’s talk about what we have today. I was super keen on purchasing this because REN says this can “clinically proven to reduce the appearance of dark spots from 7 days”. But, does it really act magically? Let’s find out below..

PM: Gently massage a generous amount onto a freshly cleansed face and neck until absorbed.

In Detail REN Overnight Glow Dark Spot Sleeping Cream Review and My Experience

REN Overnight Glow Dark Spot Sleeping Cream comes in a simple glass tub with a plastic screw lid. Like all REN’s products, this packaging is simple yet functional. I think they even have a 10 mL version of this product which is available only in selected locations.

The product itself looks like a cream with a very slight yellowish tinge to it. I am not a fan of the smell however, the first time I smelled it, I felt like it was tolerable if it really did what it claimed. So unless you have a very sensitive nose, the smell shouldn’t be a problem. This has a creamy consistency with a very smooth texture. Absolutely no particles or anything in it.

I really wanted to see if it works. So I asked my husband to take a really good look at my skin at the start of my journey. I would double cleanse my face, and then apply this religiously every single night.

At the end of 7th night, 8th day morning, I made my husband sit down and then again take a close look at my skin in the same light. He said and I quote “Its almost the same, may be slightly more brightened, but I do not see any major difference.” When I looked at my skin in the mirror, even I did not notice any drastic changes.

So I continued using this for another month. However, now after a month, I can confidently say it does work. The main reason why I have dark spots is because I pick on my breakouts. I know, I am not supposed to do it, but it just happens. After a month of using this night sleeping cream, I noticed my dark spots were around 10-15% less noticeable. It did not get rid of them 100%, but it did help fade them to an extent.

Another thing I like about this cream is the fact that it is moisturising. I mean I have normal to dry skin and I didn’t really need an extra moisturiser after applying this cream. However, do keep in mind, if you have oily to combination skin, you might sometimes feel that this is on the heavier side, specially in humid conditions.

Overall, I feel like this does work, but not in a magical way as claimed. It does not “reduce” the appearance of dark spots in mere 7 days in my case. It took good 30-35 days to give me visible results.

To be honest, I was actually surprised to look at the ingredients list. It has no active ingredients at all. I mean we’re used to seeing actives like retinols, various skin friendly acids, vitamin c etc in skin brightening products. However the ingredient list in REN overnight sleeping cream only has some moisturising ingredients along with glycerin (hygroscopic agent) and some alcohols including fragrance.

I would not recommend this product to you if you’re looking for faster results. However, if you’re someone who’s really enthusiastic about vegan, clean skin care, you might give this a shot. It does work, but it takes time as per my experience.

2. Easy to apply, doesn’t feel sticky after application which is a huge deal to me specially in a night cream because I hate such feeling when I am trying to sleep.

1. Ingredients list is not impressive.
2. Expensive looking at how much time it takes to deliver small results.
3. Not easily available everywhere.
