I did some research and Lond Dan is actually is a Chinese herb which is famous for its medicinal properties as a liver cleansing agent. There are some references where it is mentioned that it also has some anti-pigmentation qualities.

I actually got this product as a free gift with some other purchase at the local grocery store. We all know how they keep coming up with such schemes 😀 So since I had it, I decided to give it a try. It is quite interesting to know that there is no ingredient list mentioned on the product. I thought it was not allowed or illegal if you’re not mentioning the ingredient list on the product.

It comes in a small round glass tub with a lemony yellow cap and same colour label. Quite cute actually. The product I remember used to be super famous when I was in boarding school in Varanasi and my room mate actually used to religiously use this daily.

The consistency of this product is rather little thick similar to fair and lovely. There is a mild citrusy fragrance you can appriciate if you get your nose close to the tub. Nothing overpowering though. I had to be really careful while applying this because even a little extra amount makes a white cast on the skin. When used in the right amount, upon application it does impart a slight brightness to the face which is impressive. It does not make my combination skin feel greasy or oily. But this is temporary, my face does start getting oily after a while may be in a couple of hours.

The product claims to lighten the skin but well it does not have anything to protect from tanning. It does not have any spf and I am not very comfortable with layering my skin with a separate moisturiser and sunscreen. Also, I strongly feel that the brightness or the lightening claim is only supported by the mattifying effect of the cream. Also I read somewhere that it might contain a film forming agent which might be responsible for the brightness effect. But I cannot confidently say this for sure because I do not know the ingredients.

I have used it for quite sometime now and I can say that the cream did not lighten my complexion or reduce any dark spots on my face. It did work as a decent moisturiser. I was continuously worried about what am I putting on my face since this does not have an ingredient list.

Will I repurchase this?

Absolutely no. In fact I have more than half the tub remaining and I wonder what to do with it.
