These are supposedly their best matte lipsticks so far and Lakme peeps have been marketing it with all pomp and show. Let us take a closer look at their shades and see how they really are. 🙂

How To Apply

• Step 1: Pull out the cap.
• Step 2: Start applying from the centre of your upper lip.
• Step 3: Work from the centre towards the outer edges of your lip, following the contours of your mouth.
• Step 4: Glide across the entire bottom lip.

In Detail Lakme Absolute Sculpt Studio Hi Definition Matte Lipstick Review

Packaging

The packaging is quite impressive with a Gun Metal finish. The shell looks pretty with a glossy look and the base has a covering of transparent plastic body on top. The cap is transparent which makes selecting the shade very easy. When we twist the bottom, the bullet comes out with a click. This twist and click lock system is quite remarkable with this lipstick. Overall they did a good job as far as packaging is concerned. This lipstick has been travelling in my bag and did not melt or leak, so quite safe for travelling.

Formula and Texture

Despite being a matte lipstick, their formula is not very overdrying on the lips as compared to others in the market. The texture is quite soft and fairly creamy. It is easy to apply on the lips and glides on easily. But if I can mention here an important observation with some of the dark shades, when they wear out after a few hours, the fade lines do look prominent.

Pigmentation

The pigmentation is indeed quite vivid and opaque. You almost do not need a second swipe. The color pay off is wonderful. If you want to make it look a little glossy, you can always add a layer of gloss on top.

Staying Power

This lipstick stays on me for 4-4.5 hours after which it starts fading a little bit. When it fades, the fade lines look prominent which is an issue. Also, if you generally have dry lips, this lipstick may make your lips look drier after a couple of hours of application if you’re not wearing a lip balm underneath.

MBF Recommendations

Since this is a matte lipstick, I would suggest exfoliating the lips a little bit before putting it on for best results, as it can settle in fine lines and make them more obvious otherwise. Also application of a lip balm before the lipstick is always advisable with such matte lipsticks. Overall I would say a good matte lipstick with decent formula. Though there are some issues but I guess they can be managed with a little lip prepping.
