Kiehl’s Super Multi Corrective Eye Opening Serum Review

3/5 - (6 votes)

Hello People! Today we are going to do a Kiehl’s Super Multi Corrective Eye Opening Serum review. I have always been a fan of Kiehl’s and this is actually the first anti-wrinkle product I bought from them (I am on the wrong side of 30, you see!) I have always loved my eyes – in any case, I feel eyes are the first thing people notice about your face – they are the windows to your soul. And if they aren’t nice and bright, it really isn’t a pretty sight. I had started to notice more fine lines around my eyes and was really excited to try this. The one thing that made me buy the Kiehl’s Super Multi Corrective Eye-Opening Serum was its texture. And a silly reason – I was curious to know exactly what kind of a punch did this small container pack in it!

Claims for Kiehl’s Super Multi Corrective Eye-Opening Serum

Kiehl’s promises the product is a 5-in-1 solution to many of the signs of aging found around the eyes. The company claims that this product is “formulated with botanically-derived Rhamnose and Sodium Hyaluronate to lift, firm, smooth, hydrate, and restore youthful shape of the eye.”

It also claims that the following benefits will be achieved:
• Lift, firm, smooth, hydrate eye area
• Restore youthful shape of the eye
• Skin around the eye area looks visibly firmer, lifted and skin texture looks more refined in less than one week (95% of women showed a significant improvement in eye opening)

• Paraben-free, mineral-oil-free, fragrance-free, colorant-free, and suitable for sensitive eyes
• Quick-to-absorb
• Because it’s already got a somewhat pearly sheen, it does provide an instant brightening effect based solely on the product’s colour.
• It has a refreshing feel on the skin after application.
• Fine fine lines are lessened and the skin under the eye feels firmer

The main ingredients are Aqua/Water, Rhamnose, Glycerin, Alcohol Denat., Dimethicone, Hydroxyethylpiperazine Ethane Sulfonic Acid, Octyldodecanol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Mica, Phenoxyethanol, Ammonium Polyacryldimethyltauramide/Ammonium Polyacryloyldimethyl Taurate, CI 77891/Titanium Dioxide, Chlorphenesin, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Triethanolamine, Xanthan Gum, PEG-20 Methyl Glucose Sesquistearate, Disodium EDTA, Adenosine, Salicyloyl Phytosphingosine. The key ingredients that need more awareness are Rhamnose and Sodium Hyaluronate. As humectants – ingredients which draw water into the skin – they help to improve the moisture levels in the skin.

How to Use

It’s a white, slightly pearly serum that has a barely detectable medicinal scent. Take a single drop on your ring finger and apply dots around one eye. Use the knuckle of the thumb to gently press the product into the skin.

In Detail Kiehl’s Super Multi Corrective Eye Opening Serum Review and My Experience

With a heavy use of humectants (Glycerin, Rhamnose, Sodium Hyaluronate), not that many emollients (Dimethicone, Octyldodecanol), and the presence of denatured alcohol – only as an ingredient that enhances penetration, the product is light and not thick. Perhaps this is why it is a ‘serum’ and not ‘an eye cream’. When I applied it to my skin, I found it to sink in fast, leaving no residue at all, and surprisingly, despite the alcohol content, it didn’t irritate my skin or dry it out at all.

Kiehl’s Super Corrective Eye-Opening Serum is absolutely fantastic for fine lines and wrinkles and sagging around the eyes. The product will cause your skin to produce more collagen over time. I really see the difference. Lines are less profound, the eye area looks smoother and less tired. I also like the fact that you can use the product over the whole eye (also upper lids) as it gives an instant refreshed feeling. It feels slightly cool on the skin. When it dries, it is slightly light-reflective, owing to the mica particles therein. It is great to apply makeup over.

I have very sensitive skin and this product pampers it perfectly. Love this ‘eye-opening product’.

How I Use it

Apart from applying it around my eyes once in a while during the day and religiously before bed at night, I use this as a primer when I do eye makeup. With a lightweight formulation filled with shimmering illuminating minerals, the eye serum comes in a small metal jar with a pump dispenser. The serum absorbs fairly quickly and leaves a thin film around the eyes that instantly tightens the skin. I think this is actually a great product to wear during the day time under makeup because it works great at tightening and lifting.

The Super Multi-Corrective Eye Opening Serum lifts, firms, smoothes, hydrates and restores the delicate skin around your eye, bringing back your youthful glow. The 5-in-1 solution brings noticeable improvement to your eye area with repeated use over time. I have been using the serum for two weeks now and can’t stop raving to people about how well it works. The serum instantly plumps and smoothes the skin and leaves it feeling fantastic. And in just ten days, I have noticed that the little wrinkles and fine lines around my eyes are smoothening out. It has improved my whole eye area leaving my eyes looking more open and the skin smooth.

One minute after dabbing on the serum for the first time, my eye area looked smoother (that’s the light reflectors at work). A few days later, the skin around the eyes looked generally less slack. And after a week of daily use, my eyes looked remarkably more open. The slight sheen to it that makes my eyes look alert and awake. I don’t find the serum very moisturizing. In fact, I find that I need to follow this with a night cream or just a light dab of moisturizer, or else my eye area feels a bit dry.

Pros of Kiehl’s Super Multi Corrective Eye Opening Serum

• Instant results
• Non-greasy
• Can be used as a makeup base or primer by those who are not fans of heavy makeup.
• Works under sunscreen too

Cons of Kiehl’s Super Multi Corrective Eye Opening Serum

• Too much product comes out of each squirt and it’s hard to do a half of a pump to counteract that.
• If it accidentally get into your eyes, it does irritate them.
• I don’t find the serum very moisturizing. In fact, I find that I need to follow this with a night cream (or just the Super Multi-Restorative Cream) or else my eye area feels a bit dry.

MBF Advises

If you are combating the signs of ageing be sure to try this out! Also, apply a regular eye cream on top of it once it soaks in – especially in the night, before sleeping, because the serum on its own has a ‘drying’ texture.

  1. Eye serum must be very good for oily skin beauties na as compared to dry skin ones. What kind of skin do you have aarti, oily or dry? I am thinking of getting an eye cream for me and i have oily skin do you think this will be enough for me?

    • Hi Guri,

I have a combination skin, but with ageing it is more on the dry side. And an eye serum is good for most skin textures. Oily skin is actually a boon in the long run as the ageing process is slow and wrinkles don’t show up much. Oily skin also retains its suppleness and elasticity for longer as compared to dry skin. Why don’t you go for this serum and if your skin feels dry, complement it with the eye cream from the same range. Hope you see good results!

      • I am positive this will show results, I am struggling to maintain a routine right now. You made my day by complimenting my skin type *blush* Love you. The only problem with me us, whatever I use makes my T zone oily and shiny. I am really hoping this works.

  2. I have combination skin, I think a serum would be great for my eye area. This product sounds so good, I am waiting for mine to finish, i’ll probably get this next. 🙂

    • Oh yes you must! I even use some on my forehead if I feel too much has squirted out and I am seeing my frown-wrinkles becoming smoother!
