In Detail Maybelline V Face Duo Powder Review, Swatches and My Experience
Maybelline launched a couple of products recently. I grabbed all of them to review for my lovely readers. Today I will review Maybelline V face Duo Powder.
The lighter powder is to be used as a highlighter while the darker is supposed to be used for contouring. I purchased the shade medium dark.
The product comes in a pressed powder form inside a shiny black compact casing. The case is neither too brittle nor too sturdy. There are two shades of powder as suggested by the name. The darker shade is pressed in the form of a V and the lighter shade covers the centre. Below the powder pan there is a flat brush of medium quality and can be used while travelling. Back side of the powder pan has a mirror. Hence, this entire packaging is very apt for travelling or on-the-go touch ups.
The entire pressed powder is very silky and smooth. It’s slightly creamy and not too powdery. The lighter shade has shimmer particle in it. In pan it looks like heavy shimmer is present while on application only small amount of shimmer is visible. The darker shade is a very medium brown and as expected there is no shimmer in it.
Maybelline advices to mix both the powders and use on whole face and use darker shade to contour and lighter shade to highlight. But I prefer using my l’oreal true match compact on entire face as I feel mixing both will make me either dark or make me a shimmer ball.
For contouring and highlighting this works perfectly. The shades are easily blendable making it easier to apply. They do not create a layer on face and if blended well, looks very natural. Though I feel the product could be more pigmented, especially the contour shade. Even after multiple swipes I did not get the perfect contouring.
I purchased the darkest shade in the range, and I must say Maybelline forgot our dusky beauties. The contouring shade won’t be visible on duskier skin tone beauties.
The staying power of this product is decent. I wore it for about 6 hours and did not notice any smudge or wear off. My skin is comparatively dry and nowadays weather is also dry, so I guess wear time is more now. In summers and on oily skin, the wear time will be less. But for a product this affordable, this is a decent wear time.
Overall, I feel there were not many options for contouring makeup products in India. With V Face range launched in India, now our ladies can take advantage and learn and contour their face. Though I still feel there has been way too much delay in getting this product to Indian market as now contouring days are getting over and fashion consultants are going beyond the perfect cut face to more natural look.

Will I buy Again?
Not really. I will be mostly using this product for a quick touch up on the go. Since this is small and comes with a mirror and brush, it can be easily carried around.
If you are planning to buy this, make sure you buy the shade suitable for contouring your face and don’t select keeping in mind that this can be used as a compact.
