With summers approaching in their full glory this year rather early, my combination skin had started getting oily. It was then I spotted this newly launched face wash by Neutrogena here in India.

Neutrogena face washes have always been good to me. So I did not think twice before getting this. In fact, I picked up 2. One for me and another one for my MIL. Read on to know how this worked on my combination skin and my MIL’s dry skin.

Wet face and squeeze cleanser onto hand. Apply to face and massage gently. Rinse thoroughly. Avoid contact with delicate skin around eyes.

In Detail Neutrogena Deep Clean Brightening Foaming Cleanser Review, Swatches and My Experience

The Neutrogena Brightening Foaming cleanser comes in a lovely orange-white-pink gradient colour tube with a flip open top. Now, after I was done taking pictures, I kept it on my photography table. I forgot to close the flip lip properly.

My toddler reached it, and dropped the tube while trying to grab it. So as I am writing this review, the flip top is actually broken. Therefore be careful, do not drop it while the flip top is open. Otherwise, I really like the packaging.

It has a moderate creamy consistency as well as a smooth texture. You can appreciate a slight pink tinged product as you squeeze it out. Smells really fresh and nice. A tiny bit floral may be, but I kind of like the way it smells.

How I Use it

I take a pea sized amount of the face cleanser and work it on my wet facial skin. It creates a lovely creamy foam. I massage it all over my face properly. Then wash it off with normal water. So, pretty basic, just use it like you use your normal face washes.

Effects

On my Combination skin- It cleanses my skin amazingly well. This face wash literally takes off all the oiliness and dirt off my skin. I can feel the freshness and clean feeling on my skin. My skin feels very nice and smooth to touch. It does not make my skin feel overly dry either. The best part- it helps control those occasional breakouts.

Officially, I can comfortable say that since I have been using this face wash, I haven’t had any breakouts on my skin. Because of the lovely cleansing action, the skin appears glowy and brightened. In a nutshell, I basically love this face wash.

On my MIL’s dry skin- Well she has pretty much the same opinion about the face wash like me. However it makes her skin slightly dry. So she has to use a good moisturiser.

I have been using this face wash every evening since I got it. And again before bed if needed. This feels like such an important part of my routine simply because it cleanses the skin so well. I use it with my Foreo Luna Mini 2 occasionally when I feel like my skin needs more deep cleansing. It has absolutely proven to be a life saver for my combination skin.

In fact, I would highly suggest this face wash for oily, combination and normal skin ladies. Dry skin ladies, do try it out but make sure to moisturise you skin very well because as per my MIL’s experience this might be a little drying on your skin.

Nevertheless, it is an excellent skin cleanser which truly deep cleanses the skin. If you’re into skin care, you already know that clean skin=bright/glowy skin.

I wish it came in smaller sizes as well because we all want to try out the little size before indulging in a big tube like this. Oh, and this would last a very long time since you only need a tiny bit per usage.

Last but not the least, I HATE THE FACT THAT THEY ADVERTISE THIS AS A FAIRNESS PRODUCT. Trust me, although I love it as a cleanser, my NC42 skin did not turn NC40 even after one month of use.

You cannot change your natural skin pigment by using a face wash. And why would anyone need to change their skin tone wanting to look fair?? Every skin tone is beautiful! Love your skin, love yourself!

1. Very disappointed with a well reputed company like Neutrogena because they advertise a product as “Fairness product” in Asian countries where everyone knows how much people are obsessed with skin tone. I believe companies must behave responsibly and encourage everyone to love their skin tone instead of promoting “fairness” products. This is not a fairness product!
2. May be slightly drying for dry skin beauties.
3. The cap attachment is kind of not very sturdy. Mine fell once and broke, so make sure you don’t drop yours. It might break.

MBF Advises

1. Use this as a daily face wash specially when you come back home after work etc. It really cleanses the skin well.
2. Although this does not dry out my skin a lot, it is not moisturising either. So I suggest everyone to moisturise their skin according to their skin type daily.
3. It is not completely free of chemicals, so never forget to do a patch test.
